Morrissey A-Z: "If Saturday Ever Comes"

A brief return for the A-Z, to catch us up on the three demos posted on YouTube by SER about a month ago. This is a Morrissey/Lopez composition, seemingly from the IANADOAC sessions. What do we think of this one?

What song are you listening to right now?

Pretty sure this song's title is not a reference to "Home Is a Question Mark" but it's a great track anyway:

What song are you listening to right now?

This is like some kind of super-sunny Teenage Fanclub song, out of Brooklyn.

Morrissey Central "VIDEO BY REVOLVER DOLLS" (November 8, 2021)

This is superb, I wish all videos were like this. Just the way that his mouth moves, and has nothing to do with the words he's singing - fantastic.

A blog poster is offended by (name can't be mentioned)

Such a strange time that we're living through. (Image via the BBC website, a couple of years ago.)

BBC2 The 80s Music's Greatest Decade? (minus The Smiths) by Dylan Jones

It was very strange. Episode 1 (last week) was a fairly typical music documentary, fronted by Dylan Jones, with interviews, context, etc. While Episode 2 (last night) looked like an expanded edition of TOTP2. What a weird stylistic choice for this series. Also, I once had a breakfast meeting...

Morrissey Central & SER YT: "If Saturday Ever Comes" - Morrissey 'Lost Demo' (October 29, 2021)

Yes, although I might give it a few days if that's OK, to give more people a chance to hear it and to give others more time to listen to it again (if they want to!)...

    Strange/unexpected Moz references?

A long article in the LA Times about Dia de Muertos and creating an altar for a loved one, including this snippet: Memorial items. Place photos of the person or people you want to remember and be visited by. You should also have a few of their favorite things waiting for them. Did the deceased...

NME: "Does Rock 'N' Roll Kill Braincells?!" - Billy Bragg (October 21, 2021); Smiths / Morrissey mentions

I lost interest in Bragg's new music a long time ago, but this remains one of the all-time greatest moments of music on television, and I'll always treasure it.

@morrisseyofficial / Instagram post Oct. 22, 2021; appears to be controlled by Quest Artist Management

Yes, it does rather smack of a box-ticking exercise by a management company, just because it's something you're supposed to do. But if this means we're maybe inching closer to some kind of release for Bonfire, then that's good.

    Strange/unexpected Moz references?

Good interview with Belinda Carlisle in advance of The Go-Go's being inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. Including this section: Craziness never goes out of style. When you think of those artists, who got to be craziest as they evolved in their career, and really just had that don't care about...

Oh do cheer up! Try contradicting yourself, sometimes: it's fun.

    Morrissey A-Z: "You've Had Her"

Our final song in the A-Z is this Morrissey/Boorer composition, a B-side on the "Certain People I Know" single. What do we think? And on a side note, it's hard to believe that we started this A-Z thing back on January 11th. Huge thanks to @This Charming Bowie who kicked the whole thing off...
