Just seen a the promo sleeve for a new Smiths book by Kevin Cummins called 'The Smiths and Beyond. Images'

The sleeve shows Moz slumped across an amp on what looks to be the Kill Uncle Tour. The inner sleeve shows some pictures of The Smith and solo Moz (fairly standard ones it has to be said) and some post Smiths Marr.

The information says that it will be published in the UK on March 7th 2002. The publisher is Vision On Publishing, they are responsible for the magazine Dazed and Confused. No US publishing info is given, but a US distributor is listed. The cost will be £12.99 or $19.95.

The ISBN is 1 903399 27 0.

Eurythmics FAQ: Notes from The Church
While we were discussing unreleased stuff, Dave sent some people down in the basement to look for some tapes. They came back, and Dave put one in... it was the instrumental track they used to open the Revival tour, though in an extended form. He called it "We 3 are 4"...the tape also had "Rich Girl", "Fear No Evil" and "Precious" THEN he said, "here's a good one"... he explained that they had recorded a secret album in 1985 that was never released (I'll explain why in a bit) - it's an album of cover tunes done in HIGH EURYTHMIC STYLE.... The first track was "Last Night I Dreamt Somebody Loved Me" originally by the Smiths. Dave said "Annie did a really brilliant vocal on this one" - he sat us down on the sofa so we could hear in stereo, and set the tape rolling.... IT WAS ABSOLUTELY ETHEREAL... drowned in rich synth strings with a transcendent vocal performance by Annie.... Lori and I looked at each other with amazement that we were actually listening to the stuff. After that song, Dave said "That would be a smash hit if we ever released it!"

Apparently Morrissey was at the (International) Noise Conspiracy show at the Roxy (Los Angeles) on Monday. A friend of mine is friends with some of the guys in Rival Schools, which was one of the opening bands. The Rival Schools singer is apparently a big Morrissey fan and heard he was there so he tried playing a Morrissey or Smiths song but didn't get too far before he stopped. My friend didn't know which song it was. Courtney Love was also at the show and I was told that she was on the (International) Noise Conspiracy guest list but I don't know if Morrissey was with her or not.

Here is another poster with Morrissey on it, also by Jermaine Rogers! He is a great fan of Morrissey himself...

Absolute Press updated their website to include more information on the Outlines book series, particularly the new Pat Reid book dealing with Morrissey's sexuality. For those who aren't familiar with Pat Reid, he also published a 32 page book called "Bigmouth: 1983-1993" (1993, Dunce Directive).

One of pop music's most enigmatic and compelling figures. Morrissey's only claim about his sexuality is that he is celibate. But he is both reviled and revered by various sections of the gay community. Pat Reid delves into the hushed territory of it all.

Just thought I'd let you know that in EastEnders (A British soap) they were playing "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" in the background in the Queen Vic Pub. The episode went out tonight (29/11/01) so unlucky if you missed it. It's nice to know the producers are fans and that no one had any complaints about the Big Guy being played, although I know that Moz ain't a fan of the old British soap.
