The Velvet Underground basically single-handedly launched my interest in music, so this is really really difficult news to take. I had a nice little sob about it earlier, but you know, 71 is not a bad age to go-- especially if you had a lifestyle like Lou's. I just can't help but wonder whose gonna be next.

And I just read those lovely words on him in Autobiography.
'The Andre Gide of pop' as Moz lovingly called him.

So sad to hear this. Another legend gone. I wonder if Morrissey will release a statement. I feel he will seeing as he's been a huge influence on Moz.

Truly sad news.
I remember being upset at how ill he looked on stage with Gorillaz, Glastonbury, 2011, but this was so unexpected.
I think anyone without a Velvet Underground album in their collection is missing out.
