> Top 5 90's Bands:
> 1. Nirvana
> 2. The Magnetic Fields/The 6ths
> 3. Radiohead
> 4. Belle and Sebastian
> 5. The Melvins
Mmm..reasonable i suppose..belle and sebastian make me so giddy
and Radiohead are heavenly..the rest are OK, but that's my opinion..
but where is Gerardo? Seriously though, it's hard to say what groups will be recoqnized or not, it's too early i think..but what come's
to mind is Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, REM, maybe Radiohead (though
they deserve it)..
> Top 5 80's Bands:
> 1.Smiths
> 2.The Cure
> 3.The Stone Roses
> 4.Depeche/OMD
> 5.The Misfits
The Cure? Nahhhh..The Smiths? Yep Yep. Stones Roses? Nay.
The Misfits..maybe, of course it's all perception. Some may
say "U2, MeatLoaf, Billy Joel..". Depeche Mode, they are sweet, but
i would never name them one of the best..
> Top 5 70's bands
> 1. Led Zeppelin
> 2. The Doors
> 3. Joy Division
> 3. Pink Floyd
> 4. Black Sabbath
Joy Division should be 1..(in my little world). But this list
of the 70's show's how much your missing out of the 70's.
Roxy Music, David Bowie, maybe some punk?..i mean Black Sabbath?
And Led Zeppelin do nothing for me and factually The Doors were'nt
a 70's band. They're last album, L.A Woman, came out in 1971, and
it was their last and during the early 70's, it was like every begining of a decade..the decay of the last, a new movement in music..
so i would'nt qualify The Door's as a 70's band, they're best material came out in the mid-60's ala' The Doors
and Strange Days..Pink Floyd are fiercly overrated, but my dear,
your list is pretty good, but maybe you should look more into the
70's. People of thise generation seem very dissillusioned with the
70's music, like.."There was Led Zeppelin, James Taylor, Pink Floyd,
kiss, Black Sabbath, funk, disco.."..and the only "Alternative" people
can think of now is Pink Floyd..or maybe David Bowie if their a little bit more knowledgable. But the major alternative movements
we're the punk and glam movements that started in London and they
were tremodusly influential on the American kids..though i get the
impression people these days that grew up in the 70's did'nt know
much about "alternative". The whole glam thing was very taboo and it was certianly harder in those days to find indie bands and that's why
we dont know as much about the indie scene in the 70s and 60s and especially before as much as we know the 80's and today, because
of the internet and the level of communication is so much higher.
But, you should dwelve into the indie groups of the past more often, it's hard to find out, but i would suggest reading lot's of books, and NEVER read the rolling stone guides, they skip so much..:
lug alert:: , read "The Secret History of Rock"..what an awesome book.
> Top 5 Greasetea's Reports:

> 2. Morrissey spit me at L.A. eaterie
> 3. Boxset Celebration Meat Bash Party
> 4. A-Dawg faces racism charges for impersonating RuPaul at AIDS
> benefit party
> 5. Disturbance at the Beacon Theatre Show ChiliDog Stand
You know, i don't remember all the "headlines", but i know every
one i've read has been very, very funny and anyone who doesn't
agree can go fook themselves..Greasetea is wicked, but i wish
he'd make more time for me (maybe just an hour? i miss you)
