Why are these impersonators called REBELS??

You who talk badly of these people should not call them REBELS. They are absolutely NOT rebels! They are instead pathetic clones of one another who couldn't tell you why they call themselves rebels. For them, the term REBEL is a way to dress, it is only a fad along with thier liking of Morrissey. If you asked them, most of these "rebel" guys couldn't tell you anything about why Morrissey and the Smiths were rebels, all they know is that Morrissey is "in" right now so they figure, "Hey, I'll jump aboard!". To make it perfectly clear, I am talking to the hoard of you mostly Mexican (I am by no means racist) with that stupid shaved side of the head with a short hair on top haircut, vest wearing, tacky looking idiots who think it in style to proclaim yourself a fan of Morrissey!.......please......go jump off a cliff...

I am really sick of seeing this picture...

"Wild Rebels; toasted, fruity Rebels" (guess the reference - win a prize)

I think I've stated this before, but darned if topics/discussions don't get recycled OVER and OVER and OVER again, in here:

Living in the Northeastern part of the US, this whole So-Cal "rebel" faction completely BAFFLES/FASCINATES me. To think that somewhere on this earth, in 1999 no less, there are high school-aged kids - HIGH SCHOOL!! - who, not only have HEARD of Morrissey, but actually EMULATE him!

What further boggles my mind is that, here in the NYC area, the prevalent Hispanic music audience tends to embrace hip-hop, rap and techno music. I can't fathom "Suedehead" peeking in, between songs on their mix tapes. :)

Frankly, I think that whole Rebel movement is VERY intriguing. I can't comment on their attitudes/motivations behind what they do, but it's very interesting, nontheless.

Tell me more! Tell me more!
(yes, I WAS trying to go for that "Grease" ref!) ;)

I couldn't agree with you more! I am Mexican, and I even hate those bastards. They have no idea who the hell Moz is and why they even like him. Okay, I don't want to sterotype them all, because that's not right. But I'd bet my left nut that about 75% have no idea what's going on. I've actually met some "rebels" that are cool as hell and don't fit the mold, but most of them suck. They're rude, tacky, and need to go back to their crappy techno club cave, where you can be the very "vest" you can be.

Lifeguard, they'll just as easily embrace hip-hop one day, and Moz the next, there is nothing to be intrigued about...

MST3k- The movie Wild Rebels-host segment

Thank you Best Brains for the lovely episode guide.

Let's put it this way. Let's say someone comes up to you and expects you to represent the entire female segment of society. Do you watch Ally McBeal? Do you eat a pint of ice cream while watching "when harry met sally" when you are angry? Does your life mirror Fried Green Tomatos or Steel Magnolias? Do you have 20 pairs of black shoes? Do you sit around and giggle about boys while cooking up your family recipe for corn bread? I'll bet you don't, and yet, there are many people out there that think you do.

our prices are insane! (if you live in Russia)

I'm wondering why does Moz have a big ol Mexican following (in particular). I wonder what it is. I'm Mexican myself, but I don't see why so many Mexicans are into him. I know why I am, but I wonder if I missed something that Moz is being for Mexicans or what. How weird, I don't know one other Mexican that likes Morrissey. I wonder if it starts with the style Morrissey has always had and maybe they first liked the look. Who knows, just as long as we all share the respect and appreciation for Moz is what really counts!

I couldn't agree with you more! I am Mexican, and I even hate

sorry about that

> We are all dying to know...

it's something I should have removed from my website a while back....its been on there way too long after the good old days of me having a coherent tape to pawn off, and the days where I gave out my home address....although it exists under certain circumstances....

Forgive him for he knows not what he says. Don't strike us down for your lack of knowledge. Could you ever imagine a group of men, straight men mind you, sitting in a circle singing His music and discussing his past, brought together by our love of Him? You really beleive that Morrissey is a fad to us. That he is just the fashionable item we wear on our sleeves? We know his past, and through His music we feel his sorrow. I have traveled the world and never have I seen a more dedicated following than these REBELS! Oh, one more thing, they do rebel. They rebel against the chains and oppression of the world. They rebel against the dreary life that is force fed to us from birth and they rebel against those who would take away the music and meaning of Morrissey.

go for it!

Got get some!!!

Sammy Sanchez you wish you loser!

Well dont forget me because I KNOW VERY WELL what I am talking about. I am Mexican as well, and know this whole "Rebel" thing....how it started and what its become. And you idiots dont know a thing about Morrissey and his Music....hence the lack of applause at Santa Barbara for two of Mozzers best recent songs..."Lost", and "The Edges".....you @#!!!s are scene chasers plain and siple....stay in your Clubs dancing to house music. Because its a fad, thas all you are, and an out dated one at that...Where were you in 91 and 92 when Mozz actually had that look.....You were doig who knows what, but not goig to Mozzer concerts...I was at the Hollywood Bowl both nights in 92...and there were many of us who were Mexican, but we were there for his music..Not to talk about "Party Crews" and hook up with a bunch of hoodrats!

"Ordinary Boys" Happy being all exactly the SAME!

Ive talked to some so called "rebels" And When i asked about Morrisey they said .. "oh yeah hes cool" or something like that.. "oh i love that Im so sorry song or How soon is now" I mean at least get the 2 different bands straight! All im asking though, is for these little rebels who dont know exactly why/who/what they are rebelling.. to be nice at Morrissey concerts because a majority of them (Not all) Were causing alot of trouble before! At least respect Us real fans.. even if you are one too. WHo actually enjoy his music not the way his band used to dress 7 years ago. By the way.. I thought Rebelling meant being Original also..you all look the same kids! SOrry!

You Win!! You may take any item off the bottom shelf.

Yes, it's quite an interesting read.

Hmm...I'm not sure exactly what you meant by this (because the part of my post that you included doesn't (imo) reflect your topic as well as another part would - am I babbling again?). However, if it's a remark about my using the phrase "Hispanic music audience," then I must explain myself:

Surely, I DO NOT mean to classify every Hispanic individual in NYC who listens to music, as a fan of the genres I had listed; that's why I used the word "prevalent," and I stand by what I said, because one sees it, both in clubs and on radio charts. I don't feel that what I've said was racist in any way and, further, I'm a bit miffed that you'd think I would even hint at it (not that you know me or anything, but jeez, I think I've put in enough time on morrissey-solo.com to be considered an alright poster who doesn't have racist - or other -ist, hang-ups).

However, if your reply didn't have anything to do with the above...then, nevermind. :)

Damn. It's been happening all week. Must be a result of me having three of my teeth pulled for braces, my lack of makeup, my hair being in dire need of a hair cut, and my clothes being horribly out of style because I"m too lazy to buy more.

Yes, I'm ready for love....

REBEL STRIKES BACK

I think your comment says more about your own ignorance and fear of a culture than that of your "holier than though moz fan" facade. It is dangerouse to negatively classify a whole group of people in terms of looks and yes race, because that my friend is what defines racism.
Have talked to each "rebel" and interrogated them with random smiths/morrissey trivia, making sure each knows morrissey's birthdate and the proper name of the song suedhead? Did you follow these "rebels" home and go through each of their cd racks making sure that their deep house cd's didn't outnumber their morrissey ones? What is a worthy morrissey fan? a skinney white boy with horned rimmed glasses who rides a bicycle? Who gives you the right to say who can and can't be a morrissey fan? Who gives you the right to classify a whole subculture as just a fad and not worthy of going to morrissey shows? you better get used to rebels deary cus they are not a fad and they are not going any where any time soon.

You who talk badly of these people should not call them REBELS.
