Morrissey "My Bisexual Years"

Morrissey was bisexually active from about 1986/1987 to 1991. He has gone completely one way since.

> No, The obvious one?

> Flamboant boy!!!!!!!

yeah, he's gay (oh no...the usual old boring topic), so what?
Why don't he tell us all? I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't really mind what could be THE way but am really intersted by How do You know that ?

You know, I can't imagine Morrissey doing it with a woman. It seems completely wrong for him.

hmm..maybe he can't imagine it either....

It works!

> hmm..maybe he can't imagine it either....

Well apparently he HAS done it with women ... but it seems awfully strange.

Hence the song "Is it really so Strange" - which surely is about Morrissey's problems in deciding which way to go.

"I Can Have Both" Can't HE?

So what do you call the b-side "I Can Have Both"? A song about finding you have enough money for two scoops of ice cream instead of one.
If any song is about that subject it is this one. If you are 100% straight it should be a no-brainer knowing that Moz wrote the song. Listen closely, or even not-so-closely and you'll see that. Particularly since nearly most(if not all) of his songs are at least semi-autobiographical should you'll understand that it is not about anything BUT that.

Re: "I Can Have Both" Can't HE?

"I can have both" is about shoe shopping - I thought everyone knew that!

That is not at all strange to me. It is what my dreams are made of, Me and moz baby!

imagining it and doing it are two different things

How is IS IT REALLY SO STRANGE about bisexuality? Don't see it. NM

I disagree with your take on I CAN HAVE BOTH

You may be right, I don't know. But my interpretation of this song has nothing to do with sex. I've posted it before, but to repeat, I think it's about someone who grew up poor finding it hard to adjust to being able to afford a lot of material things. That's how I take it, which may not be how it was intended. However, I'd find it a bit strange for someone Morrissey's age, and in particular for someone Morrissey's age who seemed to have realized he can have both years and years ago (as evidenced by his Smiths lyrics), would suddenly NOW have the lightbulb go off in his head that he can have both sexes if he'd like. So I prefer my interpretation, which also fits in more in with his recent lyrical themes of adjusting to growing older. I think when you're young you believe when you mature you'll change inside as well as outside, but it's not the case. You're still the same boy inside, and in Morrissey's case the same shy boy from the working class.

I completely agree with your thoughts on this song. Why is it that so many people assume that nearly every song Morrissey has ever written has something to do with his sexuality? He is allowed to write about other things you know.
