If I had to choose one word to describe Eddie Vedder that captures his spirit during the early days of Pearl Jam, circa 1991-1994, I would pick Intense. I hope that this intensity is captured in my latest painting of him.
After my seriously brain-draining last blog post about consciousness and other metaphysical stuff, I aim to keep this post light and ridiculously irrelevant.
So, the London 2012 Olympics have come to a close. I can't provide much commentary on the games themselves as I only tuned into the men's and women's artistic gymnastics competitions. But as you may recall, I live-blogged the opening ceremony. For the closing ceremony, I have decided to post screen captures of my favorite visuals as...

These are the albums I love because every single song on each of them is a masterpiece. I am not a music elitist so some of my favorite albums are actually reissues and repackages... singles, best of's etc. The reason that I have so many Smiths albums and just one Morrissey album--besides the best of's--is because I feel that their music was more consistent. There isn't a Smiths song that I don't...

Before Sedona, there was Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
The Cuyahoga River runs through my old city.
Below are some pics of my son and I at the Gorge Metro Park in Cuyahoga Falls. It was practically in my back yard. I miss a lot of things about Ohio. But honestly, I don't miss shoveling snow.
Cuyahoga by R.E.M. is about my old river.
Let's put our heads together and start a new country up

Its early... 6:40 AM. I woke at 5:00 AM. Oh don't ask why. It is chilly this morning. Yesterday was the first day since April that I have not run the air conditioner. Fall... is it finally here? It's hard to tell. This desert life is a strange one indeed. Hot summers. Cold winters. Coyotes howling outside my window at night. Thank goodness my Katie is a house cat. Otherwise...
This morning, Soloist, Irregular Regular, posted the song/video Over and Over Again by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, in the What song are you listening to right now? thread. Until then, I had never heard the song or the band. But wow, I'm hooked. I have been listening to their whole first self-titled album--it is amazing. Think Talking heads--David Byrne's voice--meets the Violent Femmes. If you are a fan of either of those two bands, you might fall in love with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah as...

I still struggle with tolerance. I can take most people in small doses... but... and I'm sure they'd say the same about me.
