  1. 15 minutes with you

Well, this was more like an hour. October, although structured, is an open document for activities. I was going to do a run this morning but my son and I were just hanging out in the living room for the early morning . Rather than run I had another idea, I asked if he wanted to go hiking with me. He put down his book and popped up saying, yes. What a wonderful and relaxing morning (but it did have some climbing). It had rained again last night and the creek was flowing, making that...
  2. 16 clumsy and shy

Today, thanksgiving, I got up early and put 52 miles on the bike. Sunny and crisp, in the low 50 degrees for most of the ride. Comfortably dressed and feeling a rise in strength and endurance coming over this specific periodization of base training. Family and I then drove to one of our nearest relatives to have dinner with them. We don't see them often and it is a multi hour drive to get there. Had a wonderful dinner, lots of talking. We were all exhausted but loaded into the car for...
  3. 1st prize, couldn't have done it without quitting this place, thanks Solo!

music: Lana Del Rey mood: good, not coming here helps that, dontcha think? I have some strange news. We just had our annual conference for where I work, "EF" And all of the different teams of staff from each school are supposed to do a little performance, like a dance, or sketch or some talent or whatever, well, when I found about this at the end of Decemeber I was like: "No, not gonna do it." However, I instead suggested we make a little movie(trailer) that could be a shown at the...
  4. 2000 was the peak of awkward for me.

My friend found this photo of us. It was taken Easter Sunday 2000 in her grandmother's home in a suburb of Milwaukee, the farthest I have travelled from California since I was moved here by my family in 1980. In the photo my friend and her Nani embrace effortlessly while I loom awkwardly in the background like a lost lesbian in search of, well, I wasn't sure at the time. I know at the time I FELT like a boy, even today I do. I wasn;t sure how to act on that though, so I tried my best to be...
  5. 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony

I'm watching a prerecorded taping of the Opening Ceremony in HD. View Complete Set of Companion Photos of Opening Ceremony Part I I'm about twenty-five minutes into the program. The Olympic circles are coming together overhead as workers of the industrial revolution beat their drum sticks along to the epic music. Tears are welling up in my eyes. What? I'm not even British. Why so emotional? I dunno. About thirty minutes in, James Bond picks up the Queen from Buckingham Palace....

  9. 3 month contract, 3 months of music & Trinity GESE(China)

the above pic is a reminder of why I could not stay here in Chengdu or another huge Chinese "mega city" for another year sure, three more months, that's a contract I was willing to sign, came with a bonus and a 10% raise, but it means I will be here til the end of July  now to "my music charts" of the last 3 months: So I play one VNV Nation song back in mid Feb and I guess it opened some kind of flood gate. I see Morrissey has made a return to near the top and...
  10. 3 months back, 3 months of music & when will I leave?

a lot more Rihanna then I expected :blushing: but thats actually a good sign, since I tend to listen to her when I do sit ups and push ups in my room :thumb: didn't realize I liked that song from SW&tH so much  anyways, so the Chinese embassy finally accepted all my paperwork, now must wait another 2 or 3 weeks to get the approval for the Visa to not just live but to WORK in China  then and only then will it be "safe" to buy a plane ticket, which I really must do for...
  11. 33

We all remember where we were and what we were doing when John Lennon's death was announced on TV or over the radio. I was sitting in the living room with my whole family. We had the radio on while we talked and laughed together (a rare event.) The announcement silenced the room. I went over to the large console and leaned my head against the speaker and my eldest brother softly cried. Neither of my parents or my other brother spoke a word. Just a few of my favorite Lennon songs....
  12. 4th of July weekend

Well processing a great long weekend. Got some emails of great photos at races over the holiday. So here it is in reverse. Sunday, I hade a race. This is the standout photo. For perspective we are cornering at around 30 mph. Saturday, got out and did what I do, USPSA. Took Morrissey shooting. Friday, celebrated 4th of July with race podium. The team was very tactical and we placed even though we were outnumbered. This is a case where we were smarter, not stronger. Awesome weekend...
  13. 51 years ago

From remembered stories told to me by my father and the internet, I’ve been able to piece together that he served in the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines or the “The Magnificent Bastards” as they’ve been called since fighting valiantly on against all odds at Corregidor in WW2 versus the Japanese. Thereby allowing MacArthur to escape on a PT boat, though he did eventually return, but I digress, my dad didn’t fight in that war, but a later one, not one we think so fondly of, there were no...

Please Remember "If a man can bridge the gap between life and death, if he can live on after he's dead, then maybe he was a great man." James Dean 1931-1955

Here is the complete poem that James Dean wrote that includes the famous saying, "Dream as if you'll live forever; Live as if you'll die today." It's a great poem, and it saddens me that that last bit is the only part of it that people seem to repeat. Remember: Life is short, break the rules (they were made to be broken) Forgive quickly, kiss slowly Love truly, laugh uncontrollably And never regret anything that makes you smile. The clouds are lined with silver and the glass is...
