Re: Strange/unexpected Moz references?

In this months TopGear magazine, there is a 3 page interview with Mike Joyce. It's a advert for Harmon Kardon, but he talks about being in The Smiths and is quite polite about Morrissey. Nothing ground breaking, but it's good to see The Smiths recognised for their brilliance.

Apparently there is a video of the interview at www.amplified-journeys.com:

  • Mike (Score:2, Interesting)

is always possitive about Morrissey concerning
The Smiths years, and I think he got some solo albums too.

He's on the live song from Hulmerist,
'sister I'm a poet' and was around in nthe early year once or twice with a Morrissey single,as

  • Yes Mike Joyce is always possitive about Morrissey and The Smiths. Also Mike Joyce is a vegetarian and has always lived in Manchester and stayed true to his roots and I admire him for that.
That is why I like Mike Joyce and don't like Andy Rourke. Andy Rourke says nasty things about Morrissey, The Smiths and even fans of Morrissey/Smiths! Andy Rourke is now living it up in New York and I heard he only hangs out with trendy celebs and New York hipsters.

  • Some interesting glimpses of iconic/Smith's Manchester places in this as he drives round the city in his big fuck-off, Range Rover (twat) including the Ritz, scene of their first gig, and the site of former Hacienda nightclub, now apartments.

  • If people on here who have made nasty comments about Mike Joyce met him in person I bet they would be as nice as pie to him!
Mike Joyce is a very nice, friendly person salt of the earth.

  • The chances are that Mike and Andy are lovely fellas. Moz often makes silly comments that he probably doesn't really mean, and in that way he can be childish. He made scathing comments previously comparing them to 'Rick and Bruce', as though that was a bad thing. Rick and Bruce were integral to The Jam, in the same way that Mike and Andy were integral to The Smiths. All great musicians, and certainly better than the tone deaf curb crawlers that Moz currently has in his band (with the exception of the fantastic Boz).

  • One of Andy Rourke's heroes Mick Karn, who came to fame as the bassist for the art-rock band 'Japan', from 1974 to 1982 has died. In June 2010, he was diagnosed with 'advanced stage cancer', and he died in January 2011.
