  • I don't know why anyone would buy this? The artwork and b-sides of the original are a thousand times better not to mention the fact that it's the original. The picture is a classic.

  • Bought mine (Score:1, Informative)

I cycled up to Sister Ray records on Berwick Street in London using a Cycle Hire bike. Purchased the CD, but was surprised that each 7" was priced at £4.99 - but what the hell, I bought them anyway because I like the record shop experience. It made me happy. I bought Bowie's Hunky Dory and Pinups on CD while I was there and had a browse through the secondhand Smiths and Morrissey vinyl. Found it warming that the Smiths records that I picked up from the ex-chart boxes back in the day were all now £10-£20 a piece whereas some of the other discs that were in those boxes are STILL in the bargain section at Sister Ray! Swans Way's "Illuminations" for 50p anyone?

  • So, if you have a job where you do the same thing every day, you should only be paid for the first day.
That is what the shrivelled up mental midgets with their petty little minds seem to be saying when they constantly moan about re-releases/reissues, saying they've paid for the song however many times, why should they pay for it again.
No one is forcing you to buy it, or even have an opinion about it. Shut up.
1988 was 22 years ago. There are hundreds of thousands of people who will never have heard this song. Hearing this song may lead them on to discovering Morrissey's entire back catalogue.
Regardless of this, Morrissey on the radio can only be a good thing, and that's only gonna happen if new material or reissued material is released, so while we're waiting, and hoping, that a new album is being prepared, let's just be thankful that someone, somewhere, cares enough to release Morrissey's music, new or otherwise.

In the past decade we've seen him do the exact same thing that he once railed against.

  • This release is justified if for no other reason that the track has been re-mastered. I know not everyone cares about that but some do. If you don't want to hear the improvements or the different tracks, don't buy it. It's not the same situation as Paint a Vulgar Picture so stop looking a fool.

I like the photograph of the single, but I prefer the original as I think it's ten times better. The mix of NOVEMBER... on the cd, it's awful. I didn't expect Morrissey would do such a think with that great song. It would be better to have TRASH on the single cd rather than that mix.
Instead of re-editing albums to put new photos, why not a book of unpublised or rare photographs of him?

  • It's a legendary song, and it's a great single which deserves multiple re-issues. The new artwork is great. Can't wait to get my copies in the mail, and hoping to be surprised with one of the signed photos. It's great that he is releasing some of his rare songs with these releases - something fans have wanted for the longest time, but some are whining about because leaks on the net have made it a little less exciting. That's what you get for listening to them before they were officially released. Still - incredible tunes and lyrics by a true poet (contrary to what Simon Armitage would have you believe). Very nice.

  • The flyer in with the single asks whether I've noticed anything different.

    The answer is no!

What is all this Remastering and digitising stuff anyway? I would be grateful if comesone could tell me what difference does it make? I'e only listened to it on my portable CD player mind you.

And wasn't it remastered in 2004 as well? Why mess with a masterpiece? to coin a phrase.

  • Am I the only one that doesn't like the mix of the drums in the re-released Everyday? Andrew Paresi will always be a love him or hate him figure but this mix makes his drumming sound particularly flat and plodding. The original is better - was probably my all time favourite single cover too.

  • What a shame that the Tops of the Pops excerpt finishes before the camera turns from Morrissey to the presenter on the night, Davd Kid Jensen, who says (and it sent a tingle of excitement down my adolescent spine at the time): 'Now I'll go out on a limb, that's a number one!'
