"...As the girls started performing gigs together as a group, they got better at commanding the stage. Soon after, the girls hit the road in the summer of 2004 in an old van. They toured the South, Southwest and Midwest, and a steady fan base soon followed.

They garnered the attention of many, but it was one manager who passed along a homemade demo tape to Boz Boorer, musical director for Morrissey.

Morrissey was blown away with the girls' sound. Soon thereafter the girls found themselves on a plane bound for London just after Christmas. Nina, 16 at the time, recalls how excited they were.

“It was our first time on a plane for the three of us. When we landed, Boz was waiting for us in a car and yelled at us, ‘get in!’ So we got in and went straight to the studio. We were there for only four days,” says Nina. The result of the trip was a recording of a demo produced by Boorer.

  • Who paid for the flight and the recording of the demo? Sounds as if Morrissey did. Does this mean that he was so eager to support Doll & The Kicks in any respect possible, even gave away one of his songs, because he had invested money into them?

  • We will never forget,my friends and i,the great
Hammerstein ballroom run of 2007.There was the deal of buying all 5 shows and getting a poster at the end.
After the second or third show, when whatever her name was,who used to start every show, completely fucked up and slammed Moz.We could not believe it,the joint was silent for a second or three. There was a night off between shows and we read online about "GIRLS IN A COMA" were now gonna open.Thank god, anything else was wanted.By the way,no one should open, then or tomorrow,it just promotes....but the "Girls" were alright.
Have'nt seen them since, but what a fucking moment live!
