In Irvine Welsh's new book "Glue," Morrissey gets a brief mention; one of the main characters is lamenting the fact that people in Edinburgh hate it when their friends become successful. Welsh always throws a lot of this kind of musical referencing in his books; Trainspotting had a chapter called "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out," which was sort of based around the song.

As for the book itself: better than Filth, not as good as Trainspotting. It starts off poorly and only starts picking up after the first 150 pages or so, but once you get into the middle section, it becomes an incredibly good book.
