De Winter from Spain writes:

In a recent interview in Madrid’s gay magazine Shangay, the author of ‘Babylon’ gives a new and contradictory version on the Smiths / Morrissey issue. (Note: I’m translating this from Spanish. Sorry if my English is not perfect). This is how it went:

Q: The poetic sense in your lyrics reminds me of Morrissey…
A: It’s strange, I loved The Smiths, they were the first group I saw live. I haven’t listened to their records in years, but at that time I thought they were unbeatable. I ‘ll have to go back and rediscover them…

  • Really David, don't worry too much about trying to take back what was previously said. Smiths fans aren't going to buy your record anyways, so cut the crap and stick to one story. Furthermore, I think some of the sesame street and raffi songs are more lyrical then anything DG's ever put out.

But that's, of course, just an opinion.

  • Hi, folks!
My name is Al, I have wife and a kid, and go to the Church every Sunday, not like 'em commy red pinko bastards who don't believe in Jesus, Bush and mama's apple pie! All of 'em godless commies voting for this criminal crook Al Gore and listenin to this devil' work rock'n roll music!

My old Boston College fraternity buddy Buck is hiring some mild and non-controversial Welsh/British middle-age songwriter for his Boise, Idaho high school reunion. The paycheck is $50 dollars for a gig. It could well bounce (my old buddy is a swine), but singer could have all hot dogs and burgers he could eat plus unlimited supply of Bud! All he could drink.
Buck asked me if this cool "Babylon" dude David Gray is available? Anybody in England, please contact him. I think this gig would well advance his (David Gray) well-deserving popularity at the American Heartland. Gray, where the heck are you, you little schmuck?! -:)

  • I think David Gray would be better to advertize under Massage/Escort pages of the abovementioned venerable Spanish magazine, not at reading page!
    Hell with Gray!
    Viva Moz!

  • This isn't contradictory. David Gray has always said that he used to love The Smiths, he just doesn't any more.

Not that I agree with his assessments, mind you, I just think he's been consistant.

  • David Gray is an absolute fucking disgrace. His music is dull and lifeless and his opinions worthless.

His head is also far too big for the rest of his body.
