I got the picture from a DJ in London whose name is Farzana. She put an advert in the NME for a copy of the New York Dolls book, and got a reply from a girl in Norway who was penpals with Moz in 1980, who offered to swap the book and the photo for some pictures of Brad Pitt (or Rob Lowe, or somebody like that) which she cut out of a magazine. It is her prize possession, and I'm very grateful to her for having shared it with me/us.

Anyway sorry to ramble on but I'm glad eventually he did get noticed! He deserved it.

Maybe a few of you can help me out here because I'm a bit confused. For what resons did most of you start listening to Morrissey for? Was it because you happened across a picture of him and decided he was just too "Cute" to ignore.
Do looks really play such an important roll to most of you that you feel compelled to attach this description to someone so profusely, and in a such a juvenile manner?
Sometimes I feel like you people are unaware of what you're saying.
In fact, I fell like I'm reading the back pages of junior-high school year book.
What if the person in this photo was a horrendously disfigured character, do any of you think this thread would have descneded to this length with such adulation, even in the charitable sense?
I find it odd seeing that the core of Morrissey's music has to do with feeling awkward and unbalanced, yet it seems so very important to many of you that a well finished visage be apparrent.
I agree with whomever stated that if seeing Morrissey as adorable and cute in this picture is all you can see, then you've missed the point.
You are all very odd, and I'm frightened to say the least.

and yes, i did start listening to Moz because he had an incredibly sexy voice. so what? Am I bad person because I think in those terms?
the fun thing is even though this is a crappy picture not done by any well known and overpaid photographer, that sneering star quality absolutely shines through. its' the eyes, I'm afraid. the bits of him I loved in other pictures are here plain as day.

I LOVE the look on his face because he seems to be in deep thought...if you flip through Linder's book "Morrissey Shot" there is a picture where he is on a bus, sitting with three or four other people, and he's eating somthing from a little bag - he has, somewhat, the same look on his face. If you've the same book as I have (black and white cover, "Morrissey Shot" printed in red), it's on page 103.
Face it, Morrissey is a very handsome man physically, but he's beautiful inside as well. I started listening to Morrissey after I saw the video for "Suedehead". I was just floored that someone would dedicate a video to James Dean like that...I was a huge James Dean fan back then and had never heard of Morrissey, so I figured that if he had the decency to make a video of Jimmy's home town (and I liked the song, as well)then the rest of his LP couldn't be bad! So, I went out and bought Viva Hate, and I played it so much that it's warped now. Not only had I found someone with the same kind of love and respect for Jimmy that I had, but also someone who felt the same feelings as I did. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with his looks. If Morrissey had been a monstrosity - I still would have bought the LP.
What difference does it make if people say he's cute or adorable? I don't know about the rest of the people here, but at the end of the day, it's not a picture of Morrissey I've got beside me in bed, no...It's may discman with Morrissey's voice sending me off to safe and warm sleep.
