What do you think that young Lloyd Cole would think of the old one?
I think the young Lloyd Cole liked Leonard Cohen. And Leonard, in terms of the way he managed his songwriting throughout his life, has been a role model for me. I don't think I would hate it. I think the young Lloyd Cole would be appalled with the current Morrissey show but the old Lloyd Cole says "it's a free country do what you want".

Please note that Lloyd Cole's new album, Broken Record, is his best in 20 years. All Morrissey fans should check it out

  • first LC album I've bought in 10 years and it's flipping dire. only one decent song 'Oh Genevieve', not surprisingly, a song he wrote with the Commotions in the 80's...

  • Things really headed south with the dreadful "Ringleader" and didn't improve at all with "Refusal".

The songwriting went into the tank with both of those releases and the production sucked (particularly on ROTT).

It doesn't help that Moz has to lean on freakin' Jesse Tobias for music are atrocious guitar playing.

So Lloyd Cole isn't wrong in his statement.

  • yes he is, and "Broken record" is great but not his best record in 20 years by any means. "Don't get weir on me,babe" and "love story" are far better, in my opinion.
