Short, positive interview from a New York based Andy Rourke here:

EXCLUSIVE! Andy Rourke of THE SMITHS INTV! - With This I Think I'm Officially A Yuppie

- containing the following topical question.

You seem to be and have always been the closest with Johnny. Would you two ever do another musical project together?
I can say 100% me and Johnny don't have a problem working together, when it will happen it will happen.

  • One of Andy Rourke's heroes Mick Karn, who came to fame as the bassist for the art-rock band 'Japan', from 1974 to 1982 has died. In June 2010, he was diagnosed with 'advanced stage cancer', and he died in January 2011.

  • Riff Raff (Score:1, Interesting)

Andy Rourke says in the interview "There is a band from UK called 'Riff Raff' that I am doing a remix for right now, check them out."
I've never heard of them is 'Riff Raff' any good?

By the way does anyone remember Andy Rourke was involved in project called "Wendy James" years ago??

The pub (which serves food) where DJ 'Scott Free' met Andy Rourke is called the "Ship & Anchor" and it's in Canada. DJ 'Scott Free' is from Canada.

  • The judge said Steven Morrissey treated the less well-known members of the band The Smiths as "mere session musicians as readily replaceable as the parts of a lawnmower".

  • I think this is the pub the "Ship & Anchor" where Scott Free met Andy Rourke, which was very upsetting for Scott Free. The pub is in Calgary, Canada. Here is the link: http://web.me.com/shipandanchorpub/Ship_%26_Anchor/Home.html [me.com]

  • if Johnny Marr would say the same, they were teenage friends, due to talks from Marr with Morrissey he onl was a short time out of the Smiths,Marr claiming with Rourke that he was on a methadone treatment

maybe they are friends, I doubt it, I don't think he get's
a x-mass card from Johnny, and working together,
well Rourke's project with the 3 bass players didn't get of the ground so he DJ's on his name
    Smiths member

Andy was a decent bass player had a real good rythm feeling with the Drummer, as for future project me thinks Johnny has lots of other working people to ask, who don't remind him about that 5 year hunting him since 1987 though he did some good session work, Electronic became the longer more Sumner's project, the Healers was
a good band, but he should've got a singer m/f

Enough good musicians in Manchester area, vacant,
    I give Andy 5 %

  • An "exclusive interview" that's not very recent, probably done in February or March of last year. Just in passing, Andy met with Johnny after The Cribs show at Bowery Ballroom in November 2009, and went see them again in January 2010. Doesn't mean they're getting together any time soon, just showing respect, by going to the gigs when Johnny's in town, I'd say.

  • Why does Andy Rourke hate Canadians so much?? The thing is I know Andy Rourke doesn't only hate Canadians but many people all over the world.
I would rather be like "Scott Free" a kind, nice, intelligent, friendly Canadian man. Than to be like Andy Rourke who is a cruel, prejudice, arrogant, stuck-up, uneducated, money-grabber, full of hate who is surrounded by 'sycophants' (who massage his ego) and 'bullies'!!
Here is some more of the blog:

"Only one thing STILL bugs me about this experience. People I care about love that band (The Smiths) for some reason. And he was bad mouthing them for no other reason than that they still like his old band (The Smiths) and came to see him spin a set as a DJ because they can't go to a Smiths concert!!
Face it you fucking assclown (Andy Rourke); that's the only reason *anyone* is coming to see your sorry ass DJ because there are DJs every direction you look!! You can close your eyes on a busy street and chuck a glowstick and hit a DJ... and they'll likely have more talent behind the decks and more street cred in their "scene" than you (Andy Rourke) will ever ever have!!
If he's upset that his only claim to fame is a band that he was peripherally involved in that is now defunct (The Smiths), then he shouldn't be blaming the fans for that. It makes me sick to see this level of 'abuse of priviledge' in the music industry!!
So, Andy Rourke...you can kiss my ass."

  • Sounds like Andy has zero common sence then.
All though that Scott Free sounded a bit daft whinning all the way through that blog lol.

  • This is a good quote for all the people who have been hurt, been damaged or made upset by Andy Rourke and his managers/promoters/handlers. Here it is:

"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason!!"

"If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said that it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it." Author Unknown

  • I met Andy Rourke about 13 years ago. Very nice guy. Happily signed a my copy of "Strangeways...." & talked to me about my interest in playing bass guitar.

  • xD what have you done that is not dull compaired(apparently) to ALL Canadian's?
Your just the same, just born on a different piece of land.
You can't take the credit for what someone else in the country you were born in has done, your land may be interesting but that has not been done by your contribution.
