    really didn't want to go to that dump anyway. Not that I really thought it would happen, but it was mildly exciting for a couple days.

    However, can't help but think it might have been a bit of a missed opportunity for Morrissey to raise his profile a bit. If he had done just a few shows with Marr (maybe at Coachella, then a couple in NYC, a couple in London and maybe Glastonbury) he would get TONS of press and maybe help with his record label search.

    He could have set himself up for yet another "comeback" in 2012.

  • Suede should be good, hopefully better than they were back in Dublin Castle for the 'Coming Up' tour, where Neil Codling was a total waste of space and should have been put back under a rock with the other lizards.

  • from an anonymous source telling me that The Smiths will reunite this year playing two shows in the U.S. and 2 shows in Manchester Friday June 3rd, 2011 at the Hollywood Bowl, Saturday June 4th at the San Manuel Amphitheater formerly Glen Helen Pavilion. The Manchester dates will be released soon! It's been 23 years too long but the wait is finally over everyone.

    I heard a rumour today that Elvis, John Lennon, and Richey Edwards from the Manic Street Preachers, aren't dead, but have been hanging out together in a remote ashram in the Himalayas and living on pulses (and the occasional cheeseburger). Sources have also confirmed that agents acting on their behalf have been in contact with various promoters about a possible series of live appearances in 2011, and, yes, our man Morrissey has been mentioned as a possible addition to the line-up, being a lifelong fan of the King of Rock and Roll. 'This will be bigger than Jesus', said one source.

  • To be honest with all of you, I am glad that it appears the Smiths will never again perform together again on the same stage.

    We all loved, and will continue to love, the Smiths. Theirs is the first music I ever really became aware of. I was born the year they released their first album and wasn't aware of them until Christmas Eve of 1990. At six years old I didn't realize it, but their music - and Morrissey's lyrics - were the best Christmas gift I've ever received.

    So I grew up listeng to the Smiths. When I was in third grade, I wrote a homework essay assignment devoted to them. I wore (and still wear, sort of) my hair like Morrissey. I know all the songs by heart. I purchased all the CDs, not once but twice. And then I downloaded them. I quote Morrissey's lyrics in casual conversation. But never in a pompous way. They are with me, in heart and in soul.

    But just as I grew up with the Smiths, I grew up with Morrissey, too. Solo Morrissey. At first, I was often confused. I'd hear a Morrissey song and think it was the Smiths. Or see a Smiths video and think it was Morrissey. But then it was explained to me that Morrissey was in the Smiths, then they broke up and now he has his own band.

    And I was OK with that.

    They were two different, but equally important, entities.

    The Smiths is dead. They've moved on, for better or worse.
