We all know how passionate Morrissey is about being a vegetarian and now being against "the use of animals in art.

Damien Hirst who is one of those individuals that includes animals in his art and doesn't portray them in a well manner.

  • Whenever just about any interview with a famous artist is published nowadays, these bottom-feeding websites grab a prominent quote or two and do a 'news item' on it. It's not notable, it's inevitable, they do it all day long with all kinds of artists. This story for example has made far more websites than just nme.com .

As a reader of Morrissey-Solo I would sooner see such mentions on other sites just attached to the initial news item (in this case the news item about the interview with Morrissey and Linder) if they need be covered at all (it could be argued that modded up comments on the news item were sufficient).

Just my thoughts on the subject. Love the website, been visiting almost daily since 2001, it's the best news fansite - no contest.

  • Killing an animal and not for its fur to necesseraly keep warm or to feed yourself or others and not even to have its bones as decorations so as not to waste a bit of the animal that should be honored is just sickening. Just to torture a defenseless animal because you need to feel like a man is not nature's way. We don't need to see the fucking thing in slices. He's not a fucking veterenarian nor performing surgery. He just a little man who lashes out so he could think he's a badass. Fuck him, Morrissey's right.

  • You don't have to be a vegetarian to agree with Morrissey with regard to this vile so-called artist. How awful.

Thank-you, Morrissey, for voicing your views. You are an inspiration.

    Truly,

  • Good God...

    The Pope of Mope...
If I have to read that little gem in reference to Morrissey just one more time...

It's the default setting for ignorant journalists who obviously know nothing about the man or his music. Throw in a few more buzzwords, IE: Vegetarian, Celibate, etc, and you have yet another yawn of a puff piece about Moz.

  • The pressure groups shout about the barbarick, mass murder and torture of the Buttferflies . . . but what happened to Hirst . .

    Rien, nothing, zero . . .

The Karma from from his callous actions will haunt him, however, in the meantime, after the works am currently completing, I will create something for Morrissey from his comment.

I won't put his head in a bag, it will be on show - so we all know who has been . . . the 'subject' of such a protest. Will send in a picture when complete . . .over next month or so.

  • I agree with the Moz on this one. On another note, I am heading to London for the first time. I want to visit the city's Smiths/Moz referenced landmarks. Can you help supplement my list.
    So far I've got:
    Piccadilly
    Sloane Square
    White Chapel
    Vauxhall Station
    Houston (from Smith's London)
    Any help will be great

  • This jerk's so-called "art" is truly awful. It has the worst possible taste.

This is my second message for this topic--but I have to agree strongly with Morrissey. I used to feel that Mapplethorpe was truly disgusting and awful. It seems that most of Mapplethorpe's work was simply outrageously disgusting. Purely vile.

Now I am convinced that this so-called artist might be just as terrible (or worse) than Mapplethorpe. I haven't decided.

    Sincerely,
    Ken

  • I whole heartedly agree with Morrissey .
Hirst is a fourth rate artist with a fifth rate intellect - obnoxious, overblown and bereft of original ideas. The only skill he has is marketing himself.
Come to think of it Hirst's Head in a Bag sounds an ideal piece for the contemporary art scene - perhaps one of a series on the same theme.
And the winner of this year's Turner Prize is........ Morrissey

  • . . . and not a murdered animal carcass, the art critics absolutely slammed his efforts . . . the overall view was that his paintings were . . .

    'Complete Rubbish'

And that was a unanimous verdict across the board from all politically correct artworld/newsmedia - this does not happen often, that's how appalling his work was and remains so.

  • I would be very please to pay for an exhibition done with Damien's body cut in half and placed inside a glass box. They could also give him diamond teeth.
