hey i just wanna mention that i was the lucky member of the audience who caught his shirt in killarney last night!! i managed to catch it clean and slip it under my t-shirt without any damage...well the only damage is three buttons missing, but morrissey did this himself during let me kiss you. the scent of his cologne is still emanating from it 24hrs later!!

Though I thought the Philadelphia show was amazing and prefered the setlist, I wish I could've gone to this show. Galway, Ireland is my favorite city in the world. I spent a lot of time there between 02 and 04. It will always have a special place in my heart and I actually hope to live there someday! Citizens of Galway, you are truly awesome. The way you guys would bust my balls for being American but then take me in when you realized I was alright!

Anyway, I just wanted to pay tribute to the great city of Galway!

Very good Morrissey concert, not my favourite of the ones I've been to but still rates very high. Moz in fine form, he wore his dinner/suit jacket for about 10 songs and it looked great. He handed the mike to someone (Julia, I think, well she was American and sounded like a fool) and asked her if she had anything to say and she handed him a small bottle of oil and asked him to moisturise his body the next time he touched himself all over (or something equally lame). He took the mike back from her and looked at it (I presume she covered it in spit) and said: 'you see, that's what happens when you hand the mike to someone' and he wiped it on his jeans. Everyone laughed (I'm sure she was mortified). Maybe it wasn't Julia, I don't know (or care). I brought my wife (her first Moz concert) and although she respects Moz she wouldn't be a big fan, but she was blown away by the concert. When he tore his shirt off she (and everyone else) was impressed at how well he looks. Highlights: the Loop, I'm Ok by myself, HSIN. The band were in great form, Jesse looked slightly worried when someone reached out and tried to touch Moz, he seems very protective.

Having never been to the Leisureland before, we were struck by how dingy it was, by how shoddy the organisation was, both security and bar-wise, but none of that mattered when Morrissey took the stage. Looking fit, handsome and decidedly boyish, Moz was in great form throughout, particularly on 'Seasick, Yet Still Docked', Something Is Squeezing My Skull' and 'How Soon Is Now'. For me though, the undisputed highlight was 'The Loop', with Moz wiggling his hips, licking his lips and thrashing his tambourine with wild abandon! For my money, his current band are too bombastic for his back catalogue. The current version of 'This Charming Man' is deplorable, I only hope Johnny Marr hasn't heard what they've done to his sublime melody. Similarly, 'Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others' and 'Girlfriend In A Coma' were murdered to within an inch of their lives by this pedestrian bunch. Boz showed a distinct lack of interest on 'Irish Blood, English Heart', so much so that the opening couple of bars barely resembled the riff we know and love. Perhaps he's a tad miffed that he can't get a look in amid Jesse's sub-metal chugging! Who could blame him?! On the whole, it was an honour to be in the same room as the great man as always, who despite the best efforts of a lacklustre backing group, elevated the evening to one of superlative entertainment and pleasure. Viva Morrissey!

WHat struck me was the number of idiots determined to record every moment on some device or other. One gobshite near me spent the ENTIRE gig with his phone in the air, when are you ever going to watch that?
And then there was the bloke about 3 people from the front who stduiously pretended he wasn't there, just kept sending texts and (hilariously) trying to make calls. But what can you do?
Thought it was an OK gig, Leisureland is best suited to going swimming with your kids really so not an ideal venue.

Nobody has yet mentioned the support act Dolls and the Kicks. The blonde female singer is quite breathtaking. She has wonderful stage presence, it was simply a pleasure to watch her move and her voice was quite good. As for Moz, is it just me or was the concert a bit short? I reckon it was just under 90 mins. A funny moment occurred during the intro to Carol which had to be restarted. Moz turned to the crowd and asked us who we held responsible and was it him? I'll bet there was hell to pay in the dressingroom afterwards. Overall a good gig with Moz in fine voice. Last time he played in this venue was with The Smiths but he sadly never alluded to this during the gig. I hoped that he would be more chatty but he seemed to be extremely happy with the crowd's reaction to his performance.

There are four songs that I wish he's not going to play on Manc 23rd, but there are still some v. good tunes though! To kick off with Charming Man is superb. A real buzz for the crowd I expect.

Morrissey if you're reading this, could you please slot 'What Difference Does it Make?' in your Manc 23rd.

As you may note, it looks very similar to Killarney’s, and it is shorter on paper but in actuality the same number of songs as Killarney’s show because they didn’t drop songs.

Last time I saw Moz sing at a leisure centre (with a swimming complex) was in Chester, England (the last show of the ’97 tour). It was definitely weird to witness Moz singing in what was essentially a gymnaesium with a rock-climbing wall off to the left of the stage. The sound in the Chester leisure centre was atrocious – too echoey.

Galway was no less weird and unsuitable, but at least there wasn’t a rock-climbing wall by the stage! When you enter through the main doors, the muggy chlorine-saturated air hits you like a blast of chemical warfare. I suppose Omagh will be the same, but I won’t have the pleasure. The Galway show was delightfully intimate (capacity of 1,000), but the stage, though deep, was so small that the REFUSAL emblazoned across the cigar-chomping, muscle-flexing sailor on the backdrop was obscured by the drum kit. The pre-show music was so distorted, especially with the bass, that many of us feared the sound throughout the night would be terrible and that Moz might strop off and cancel. Thank the stars, the bad sound was only during the pre-show music. As usual, I could not hear several things Moz said, probably because I was too close to the stage and because of my earplugs.

Morrissey greeted us by asking, “How are things in Connemara?” (with an Irish accent so that “things” came out sounding like “tings”). Moz initially wore a blazer or jacket that looked like he should be wearing an ascot with it; light blue shirt underneath with a tie – see the photos from the link that Cossy shared – and the frayed jeans. Strange get-up. He kept the blazer on for many songs until the shirt was saturated; he should’ve taken it off earlier! Th’lads in dark blue short-sleeved polos with grey trousers, very nice.

In the centre, right between the two monitors, a blonde security guard was posted. It was really funny when Mozzer whipped the mic cord around very wildly and it struck the back of her head. Arturo then advised her to stand off to house right. Perfect for me because then I had a brilliant, unobstructed view.

I won’t rehash the banter and events that others shared, but I feel the need to correct some ignorant person’s faulty recollection of a mic exchange. I may be a stupid cow, but I’m not Julia. I did NOT hand Moz a bottle of oil; it was a bottle of alcohol-based (antibacterial) hand sanitizer I got from recruiters at the City of Hope in Los Angeles. I gave it to him for prophylaxis because he is reservoir of communicable disease – some infected person shakes Mozzer’s hands, then he falls ill and/or spreads it to us when he shakes our hands. Also, he had been very stingy with the hand-shaking, so I wanted to encourage him to shake our hands fearlessly.

He asked me, “Do you have something nice to say?” Of course not. Whilst handing over the hand sanitizer I said, “If you happen to be in the mood to touch our hands or any other body parts, please use this for your sake and ours.” He put it in his pocket and like the last time I gave him the Wipe Away Your Sins (antibacterial) wipe – perfect for sinners on the go and convenient for use in confessionals, motels, and cars, he did not use it onstage. Instead he said, “What happens when you give other people the mic” and proceeded to wipe off the mic head as if I had been spitting all over it. Cock. But that’s par for the course.

The crowd in Galway was much more rowdy and pashernate than in Killarney. When Moz threw his shirt out during Lemme K Ya, the distracting scrum lasted all the way through Seasique. The crush and madness made it feel like a proper Moz gig. No successful stage invasion, but it wasn't for lack of trying
