I think it's his most energetic & fun song in quite a while. It's also one of his best examples of a scrambled/drugged mind lyrically...
It is actually VERY Ramones-y in theme, and nearly in music. It's strange that the older he gets, the louder and heavier his music gets. Whenever he sings almost anything at all to an Acoustic guitar these days, people think it's the best thing he's ever done. (How few recent acoustics there are when you think about it!)
I agree with many that softer music is better suited to his voice/themes, but the occasional rocker like this gets me pumped up....

We are in the middle of a chart battle with all the crashing bores. Thanks to you we are doing very nicely as you continue to scoop up the 7" x 2 and CD singles formats however we need your support on the digital front which is where pop records have the edge.
We have two exclusive live versions available. You can buy Live at The Hollywood Bowl here and Live at The Roundhouse here.

Mr. M looks like a dishevelled drunk on the back streets of Glasgow, getting rightly pissed on a Friday night. He, at one point, was wearing his tie front to back. Not a good look! His head is so far up his own arse, he can't even get the details right of his clothing.
And the SPITTING! I didn't know he spitted so copiously when he sings. Jools Holland nearly had to erect his rainy-day umbrella to keep himself dry.
Mr. Morrissey was out-performed and out-classed before his second performance, by an unknown band called Ida Maria who were quite breath taking in their performance and charisma. Lead singer has all the elements of other chanteuses a la Siouxsie, Debbie Harry and Sandie Shaw, whilst fronting a fully vocal male band. Brilliantly entertaining!!!
On the other Mr. Morrissey with his pub rock schlock, his spitting, ill-fitting trousers and his tiresome sch-tick of whipping the floor with the mic lead is just middle aged crashing bore.
The song writing is just the same old dirge from the past ten years. I don't believe he's actually wrote a decent song since he recorded 'Malajusted' and all his recent song titles all sound the SAME, the SAME.
Boring, monotonous rubbish. Hasn't anyone else on here noticed? Or are you all deluded into thinking that he's not at his 'prime'.
I think he should seriously consider retiring.

Did anyone else notice his lips stop as the 'voice' continued during one segment? To get it wrong when you're singing live is one thing; but to get it completely wrong when you have a backing tape to back you up is truely appalling.
This was a dreadful performance. If he can no longer sing that particular song he should drop it from his live repertoire entirely. Otherwise he is going to be perceived by younger audiences and peers as a has-been who can no longer hack it. He takes his devoted audience/fans for granted and thinks he can drift into sloppiness whenever it suits, knowing they'll always have him back.
By his own standards, not even mine, he let himself down on the Jool Holland show tonight!
