Morrissey - Cancelled

Morrissey's Cancelled Dates

The organisers regret to announce that it has not been possible to reschedule Morrissey's 3 postponed January shows at the Roundhouse.

The Artiste and Promoters tried strenuously to reschedule the three shows but it proved impossible.

We would like to extend our apologies to all of Morrissey’s loyal fans over this unavoidable situation.

Ticket holders for Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th January will receive a full refund.

Those that paid using a credit/debit card will be refunded in full within the next 7 to 10 days.

Those that paid by cheque or cash should return tickets to the Roundhouse Box Office. A covering letter to include name and adress should be enclosed. A cheque will be raised and sent to you within 28 days.

For security reasons we are not able to refund cash.

Once again the Artiste, Roundhouse and Promoters would like to apologise all disappointed fans of Morrissey at this outcome.

Bad news from the Roundhouse

I have just spoken to the roundhouse and unfortunately it's bad news.

Saturday & Sunday will not be rescheduled, refunds for both nights. He had no news for Friday night people. This is obviously bad news for all, but worse for people like myself who either bought tickets outside or ebay.

The reason given was Morrissey was unable to rearrange three more dates. looks like Russell Brand was telling pork less pies about holding on to your tickets because something special would be organised.

Sorry but Moz should be looking after his fans better than this. (although I will forgive)

  • This would have been my 1st gig as have been waiting since 2006 to see him. He has shat on his fans - I checked Roundhouse site and they have plenty of space available inbetween other shows - he just doesn't care. He's "done his bit" by some london/Southern fanfs - so can go **** himself - 2 lost fans here. Shiet cased c***!

  • I am just amazed how Money Changes Everything when it comes to Morrissey. How much money does the man need? How can Morrissey charge his fans for 4 songs when his voice wasn't even up to par? So many times he has cancelled during the show, an entire show, and even many dates from tours at the expense of the fan. You would think at least once, he might even offer a refund.... for the Friday night show sure would be nice and change of pace.

  • sorry, but I think Ive been to my last Moz gig. And Ive been to plenty... thats the third time he's cancelled on me. I think Im probably about £2500 down in total. I still worship the man and his music but living in Aberdeen I can't continue to risk trips and holidays when this keeps happening.

Flame away - I worship him, but I cant keep throwing good money after bad.

  • I spoke to Boz last night and he said they was offered the Forum for 3 nights Friday, Saturday, Sunday in March to accommodate the re-scheduled Roundhouse shows. But Morrissey turned these down flat because he played there in 1999 and has no desire to return, Boz thought there was more to it than that though.

Please don't hate me for suggesting this, but like in the U.S., they may find it more expedient to string us along with the promise of rescheduling and then later try to drop it quietly and offer a refund. The promoter may find this more expedient because some people may not bother to apply for the refund, so they make money without effort.

On the positive side, the aborted Friday show is to be refunded.

If you bought tout tickets on eBay, try to get a refund. Hopefully you bought from a reputable seller who values good feedback. If not, well, consider it a costly lesson and learn from it.

Also, See are only refunding face value, meaning I won't get the £11.80 booking fee and postage back, or the pound or so it will cost to send the tickets back as a recorded delivery. Cheers, that's two hours worth of wages from my shitty job.

His very loyal fans who have stuck with him through thick and thin. The fans who still adore him, buy his albums despite the last 4 being absolute shite with about 3 decent songs out of all the albums.

I live in Manchester, travelled down last weekend, hotel, petrol, parking, food, drink, additional entertainment etc, all costing about £300 between 2 of us.

Morrissey hs forgotten his Stretford routes, the fans that laud the NME with abuse because they upset his feelings. Well he is worse then Conor McNichol that is for sure. Mozza did actually say things along those lines so fuck him, I hope the NME take him and his substantial mid-drift to the cleaners. Also why the fuck hsn't he paid Mike Joyce yet? The greedy fucking cunt.

We were assured for the last 6 days that the gigs would be re-scheduled, even on the Roundhouse answerphone message it says rest-assured the gigs will be put on at a later date.

The venue is not booked out, Moz just can't be arsed. He may have been ill this week But he can still go on Jonathan Ross show and kiss the Arse of the short tongued one whom he despised during the promotion of ""Tormentors". What an absolute fuckwit. How can anyone remain his fans after this when he clearly has no respect for anyone who has followed him for the last 25 years.

  • When the tickets were released I woke up earlier than I would have done as I had a day off school and stayed by the phone line and internet for nearly 3 hours to get these tickets, and it now looks like seetickets won't even refund the booking fee. If Morrissey had indeed turned down possibilities of rescheduling at the Forum then I think that's very irresponsible to his fans and deeply disappointing. For the money he charges for his concerts he should make a greater effort to reschedule and failing that should give a gesture to the fans he has let down, e.g. giving them priority to book future concerts.

I have sworn at Morrissey today and called him some very unsavoury names (something I have never done before). For the first time in my Morrissey adoration life, I can say that I no longer feel the same about him anymore.
How many others feel the same? You, who like me, spend rather allot of money just to get the chance to see him, and with no explanation from him personally as to why he refuses to reschedule.
Now my heart is full - of sheer and utter disappointment.

  • Disappointed? I should say so!

No-one can help being ill, including Morrissey. However, he could (and in Morrissey's case) should have taken much better care of his fans.

When the Friday night gig was cancelled, I was OK, infact understanding about the whole thing. I'd rather he went off than play a shite gig. To have "celebrities" on the stage to announce his cancellation really was quite atrocious. I felt quite sick myself at that point. What about coming on himself? How about a member of the band?

Now none of the dates will be rescheduled and I like others will lose thousands of pounds (yes! thousands); tickets, accommodation, flights, food etc. etc. etc. Yes, I am moaning! I think I have every right to.

Morrissey seems to be becomimg the "celebrity" he previously espoused to despise and worse, by not rescheduling the gigs he does little to thank those thousands of fans who have supported him throughout the years and through his many media skirmishes.

Sadly, I don't have the courage of my convictions: I'll be at the gig in Edinburgh. My patience however is wearing thin as is my conviction to Morrissey. I always have been a most dedicated fan but the "diva-esque" behaviour has to stop, that and the celebrity ligging!

To all of you in my situation, what can I say?

There is, as yet, no info on rescheduling elsewhere.

As an earlier poster suggested - citing Boz - they have been offered other London venues. (Leaving aside, the alleged cr*ppy reason for Moz turning down the Forum).

So perhaps there is still discussion about rescheduling elsewhere?

Maybe I'm clutching at that - ooh, I. can't. quite. reach. them. - pile of straws over there... but I'm going to await an official statement from Merck on whether or not the gigs will be rescheduled AT ALL before passing judgment.

  • I start by writing I'm a huge fan of yours and always will be. I like others have had a life time of our music choice being questioned, criticized and to be honest laughed at.

This has never bothered me because of the way your music makes me feel (joyful).
I went last Friday to the roundhouse like 3000 other people and felt nothing but empathy for you when your voice let you down. Nobody blames you for canceling, its one of those things. The reason I'm Truly disappointed is because you seem to have lost your most important asset, no not you voice but your heart. I could write for hours explaining how much I and many others have spent emotionally and financially on supporting your career. For years people have laughed at me because of my love for you and your music, but its never bothered me because you have always come across like you care about your fans. Nobody can blame me now for thinking otherwise.

Think deep!! you cant find time to play 3 nights in London? London has been good to you even if you have lost your love for London, you should repay your fans (not just financially). The music industry wants to see the back of you but there is one important group who don't, can you guess?

Can you really look at the man in mirror and say “i couldn't find the time”

I know the Roundhouse is a small venue and you probably think I wont let too many people down,Wasn't it you who said “Such a Little Thing Makes Such a Big Difference”?

I'm not saying I wont buy anymore of you music or attend any more gigs, I just want you to know how disappointed I am in you. Writing this makes me feel very uneasy (I almost feel like a traitor)

    Please reconsider you decision Moz

London still loves you, only slightly less than we used too x x

    P.S.
I gave up pork pies because of you.

  • Morrissey isn't screwing anyone intentionally here, no matter how you want to hang it on him.

Sure there might be 'lots' of free dates at The Roundhouse - but maybe MORRISSEY isn't free on those dates? Just because the public elements of his schedule suggest that he is, perhaps the band are recording on those dates? Perhaps there are personal reasons which we have no business knowing about meaning that he is unable to make those shows. I sincerely doubt he's just laughing it up going "Ha ha, fuck them, as long as I make my money" otherwise why book to play 6 nights in the first place - do you think he was going to pull the dates all along?! Nah...

So he turned down The Forum's offer - again, perhaps he has personal reasons for not wanting to play that venue again. The key-word being 'personal'. He's an emotional fellow is our Morrissey and we all know he can hold a bloody good grudge! If he's had bad experiences there in the past then he would understandably be very reluctant to return there.

Just because he hasn't rearranged these shows at The Roundhouse doesn't mean he doesn't give a shit, no matter what some people would like to believe. Perhaps some of you like to think that you've 'been stabbed in the back so many many times' but I don't think this is Morrissey's knife. It belongs to fate.

Also if there were promises of a 'special' way to make this up to the fans then how about holding on a little longer - these things take time (oh I AM on rum form this evening).

And before anyone says anything, I had tickets for the Sunday show, as did close friends of mine who had never seen a Morrissey concert before, friends who had family coming from Wales just to see the show. We are all going to get shafted by Seetickets taking those booking fees from us that, let's face it, we know they don't need to take but will anyway. I am gutted that the show was first postponed and now cancelled but I am also respectful of a man who is no fake, no phoney, no coward, no cash-whore as it has been suggested in some departments.

I do however feel much sympathy for anyone who has booked flights, hotels etc and lost a lot of money on those. I feel sympathy for those people who went to the aborted Friday show and lost a lot of their time and money there. I DO also feel for the people who boughts tickets from eBay or touts and will be completely screwed for a refund. Some have suggested "Learn your lesson the hard way" to those people but I say NO to that. Who of us here hasn't tried everything they can to get tickets for a gig, failed and had to go the rout of the evil cash-tramp tout? I know I have and would be an even more gutted fellow this evening than I already am. So my heart certainly goes out to those people.

If you aren't already asleep then I will simply say that MORRISSEY WILL BE BACK and with a little time even the bitterest of you will have become settled petals once again.

And quit calling Morrissey overweight. You, you ten ton fat pigs, lose weight you projectionists and quit your incessant projecting. You’re jealous because Morrissey is thin. Yes thin, and I can validate this. Point is, even if he blew up like a bouquet of balloons like Elvis Presley did, I’d still find Morrissey just as attractive, probably even more because his inside beauty enhances his outer beauty. So, if he got fat, like the older Elvis, Morrissey’s beauty would be personified. You “fans” are angry, sloppy and bitter. You whine that he always cancels, always gets sick, always does not keep his word, blah, blah, blah. Remember-in life, there’s always choices. If you feel this way-avoid him. It’s as simple as that. Don’t get tickets for his concerts and give it a rest with your inane cheap fuck requests for “refunds”. He hates most of yous anyways. And no, I am not referring to Julia. Morrissey despises boring people. Do you read the messages on this board. Of course you do. This board is the poster child of “boring”.
And quit calling him old. Everybody gets older. The difference is Morrissey is even better looking, better sounding better, - period. Most of your contributions are as important as jelly stuffed in donuts. Now take off your girdles and now look at your, YOUR fat “fat” wobbling bodies. You wobble, you don’t walk. Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down. Why can’t weebles fall down. Drunk snails have more integrity than the vast mess of you. Snails are sea life. Fishies are sea life. You mess, you mess of “fans” are carnivores, meat eating slaughtering slithering factories. Horses are nicer than people. You can’t lie to horses.
I am a law abiding citizen and I have rights. Morrissey is my concern and I’ll go to any ends to protect him -any at all. It’s limitless. The list is endless, timeless. He has never, never disappointed me, and ditto regarding me to him. When he canceled this summer and I was there, right center straight upstage, well at least the goats didn’t throw beer, point is, I was not disappointed. I knew, I got the signal when he first got on stage within just a little while, I got the vibe that he was not feeling right. Instinct. And, and I understood. No, I didn’t have a vision that he was going to cancel after a few songs. The point is I felt sad that he appeared to be not ok-it was like he was iffy. I was happy that he got to have a nice rest when he canceled the next several shows. He rescheduled as I knew he would and naturally, naturally I went again and I was just sooo happy. It was lovely to see my baby performing but more importantly that he was feeling better. I remember my housemate screaming at me “call, make sure he’s playing” before we got on the plane. I emphatically said “nope”, “nope”, “nope” . I knew he’d be there. That’s, that’s a connection. that’s a real connection you have with someone you truly, unconditionally, through good, bad, sickness, whatever the scenario - you put them first. And let me clarify, bad meaning when people are being bad to Morrissey.
Call me all the names you want, I couldn’t give a fuck what you say about me. I have enough on my plate. I despise most of you with the exception of mmm brummie boy. he has never been bad to me. I am not on here like you desperate lot looking to actively seek out “friends”. I don’t need friends, and most friends are nothing but headaches. Besides with people like you, who needs “enemies”. You are beneath me. I’m not like any of you -and I am complimented.
I think That’s How People Grow Up is literally the most beautiful video I have ever seen. All those different scenes with Morrissey - all the expressions, that mesmerizing tip top voice-it’s better, better th

  • You people are so incredible. Morrissey gets sick and you crucify him. You blast him for the songs he releases, for releasing a GH album, for where he’s touring, for when he’s touring, for his choice of a single and on and on and on. And you think Morrissey wants to reschedule for you all. He can’t wait to get the hell away from all of you. He’s seen the criticism and blasting he’s taken on here for his new single, for his choice of songs on his GH and he’s fed up with all of you.
Maybe Morrissey should ask your permission to be sick and how and when he should be sick and what diagnosis he should get and while you are at it, what medications he should take and when he should schedule his gigs. Also consult with you as to whether his side effects are up to your standards and specifications. Maybe he should wait for you all to sober up and consult with you so you can tap into your crystal balls as to when it is convenient for him to get a sore throat again. Maybe he should go stand in the street next to the dumpster and pick you up and throw you in it face down and then he could crack open a bottle of bubbly when the garbage collectors come and haul you away with mounds of trash bags tied up with all the other mounds of moldy cheeses, apple sauces, and masturbated on playboy mags. His head will light up when he hears the beep beep beep of the glorious dump truck.
He stands up on stage and looks out on the crowd and must have an overwhelming desire to throw squished rotted tomatoes and cans of Ragu pizza sauce on your heads. I think he’d like to take his shirt off and wrap it around the throats of you conniving backstabbing hypocrites who complain and complain but still go to his next gig pretending “oh I wasn’t one of them”. Having more mental blocks.
Morrissey should schedule a gig and play for a bunch of stray dogs and homeless cats who would be more deserving.
Yes, yes Morrissey has meant so much to you, helped you when you needed it so where are you when he is suffering from a throat infection and could quite possibly have a temperature of 102, you want him to be transported by the EMT just so he can pop up like a jack in the box. You lot make me sick. All you want from him is for him to produce, produce, produce. But yet you do nothing in return except show your phony best wishes and your deceitful malicious beer throwing. Why don’t you vomit on your peers, they are the ones who deserve it, not Morrissey. You watch and peer like owls critiquing every high note and each and every minute detailed particular sound of the band.
So keep trying to turn Morrissey into someone he’s not and never was - it will fail as he is and will always be who he is - just a shame you all are who you are and will always be - a sad pathetic pack of peeping toms gazing into his hotel windows while masturbating to your obsessive compulsive pornography fantasies of Morrissey posing with no clothes in the camera. This is what you have reduced him to., you pack of sex starved porn addicts. Some of you live on this site, 24/7 speaking in drivel about candy bars, cats and your abysmal lives. For fuck sake go to AOL, start your own chatroom and delete your boring non-sensical silly putty squirmings on AIM. Beat it young blood.

  • This was going to be my first time seeing Moz, as I'm only just old enough really.* So I would say I have more reason to be dissapointed than all you 'I've seen him 5 times, but now he's just proved himself to be mean and greedy' people. Can't we just give the man a break. Moaning about it and insulting him isn't going to make him want to play for you. I don't think you actually deserve for him to play for you.

*If you want to make a joke about my age, go ahead.

  • bloody hell! from the sound of it half of the people on this site are mental!

this whole saga shouldn't become a load of people slagging each other off, we're all moz fans so why all the nastiness?!! (sentiment courtesy of russell brand on 25/1/08!)

with regards to the cancellations i do not think it's unreasonable to be disappointed by the way the whole thing was handled. you can say what you like about idiots splashing him with beer, and i don't at all condone that behaviour, but surely moz could have said a few words of apology - either on the night or later somehow. and if they can't reschedule then they can't reshedule, but it would be nice to have some acknowledgement, however small, that he appreciated us turning up at the roundhouse.

he's given us all lots of pleasure over the years, and no one should be trying to character assissinate him, but i don't think feeling a little down about the whole thing is ridiculous.

  • It's easy for some people to come on here and have a go at others for feeling a bit disappointed and generally ripped off, but like many, I woke up early and was one of the first ones on the site to get tickets when they came out.

I also took the day off work and spent a weeks wages on petrol to get down to Camden. Now I know that it is not Moz's fault for being ill and I wish him good health, but speaking as someone who has lost nearing £170 from this whole experience, I think I'm entitled to bitch...at least about the Roundhouse (surely they can't be booked up FOREVER!)

So yeah...disappointed? Yes. Surprised? No. Love Moz? Absolutely. As much as I used to? Hell yeah!

    Moz...MORE LIVE DATES PLEASE!!!
