In today's Irish Times (October 23rd) there is a review of Friday's Dublin New York Doll's gig.Reporter Tony Clayton Lea refers to the audience in which there is "...patronage of sorts from celebrity fans (Morrissey was in the audience)."

  • except for the dress of course. they all look so underwhelmed. irealize the show must be yet to begin, but how unexcited, unanxious can you get?- not to mention Morrissey is standing right there (lookin equally unenthused)! completely bizzare picture- as if someone juste photoshopped Moz into a crowd of sedated loiteres.

To all of you photo-slaggers -- we've all had candid photos taken where we didn't look our best. This pic of Moz isn't *that bad*, come on. And the hair is in excellent form.

  • Eh... guys and girls just to clear everything up here I didnt take this photo. By the time I got up to the balcony at the end of the gig Moz and his friend has gone backstage. I was downstairs at the front and I noticed Sylvain pointing and acknowledging someone on the balcony. It was then I noticed it was Moz quite clearly as it was an intimate venue. The place was crazy for the dolls and Moz looked like he was really enjoying it whenever I saw him. I asked a couple of people when I got up to the balcony had he mixed with people and they all said he shook hands with people and was very polite but wanted all the attention to be on the dolls and not him obviously. I dont know who took the photo but not guilty. Hope this clears things up.

  • The Dolls are one of my favourite acts from the 70s, with their proto-punk guitars and angsty, testosterone-ridden singing, no one touches them in the early 70s.

May I also say how healthy Morrissey looks in this photograph. His vegetarian lifestyle and the Roman sunshine are probably to blame.

I hope I look as good as he does when I hit 49 next year.

I see some people have seen fit to impersonate me on this site - what is more incredible than the fact there are people this bored, and lonely, is the fact most of you required me to point out that you were not speaking to the real Freeyourself. From now on, I will post under this name and if you don't see this name logged in, it is not me.

    Hmmm....

This makes a very intriguing counterpoint to the remarks made by Patrick Krief of The Dears.

If we were to believe all the things he said, you'd think Morrissey would only be able to watch the concert from within something resembling a sentry box, and wearing blinkers so that no-one could look in his eyes.
Yet here we see him totally at ease among the great unwashed(apologies to anyone in the photo who thinks I may be attacking their personal hygiene). Not much spoilt-rock-star behaviour going on here, surely.

Maybe he just didn't want to look at The Dears, eh?

  • Your comment is weird because you start off pissed off about Morrissey's evening/concert experience being ruined, but then recognize the fact that he is Morrissey and will be noticed by many people & truly can't go unoticed in public.

So...what's your point? That we pay too much attention to celebrity? Well, that's true. I'm sure you (and I) respect his privicy, but if I had a camera, I'd probably take that picture too!! So would you maybe!

Anyway, if Morrissey LOVES being recognized and a celebrity...he's said so many times! If he didn't, he'd still be in his bedroom listening to records, writing, and watching forgotten British cinema! :)

Cossy doesn't make things up! He/she's been here forever, and I've always known him/her to be trustworthy.

Settle down mate! Moz goes to gigs ALL the time. I saw him once in LA (from afar) in a smoky club watching the opening act of the gig in the VERY front of the club.

Why in God's name would that be "lowering himself"? He LOVES going to gigs!

In a completely separate website, un-connected to music, someone mentioned they saw Morrissey at the NYD's concert in Dublin.
