At the official Radiohead website they have an ongoing journal about their current recording sessions.

It's fun to see what the Oxford lads are up to, but maybe they'll have a little added inspiration:

Fantastic news! Radiohead is in the studio recording more crap, hopefully abandoning guitars completely and further alienating the fans that made them in the early/mid-90s! LAME!

  • I think it's really sad that a majority of the above comments are condemning Radiohead. I consider Morrissey and RH pretty much the only classic acts that are still producing relevant music today -- it's surprising that not more of Morrissey's fans (who I would generally classify as having good musical taste)are willing to recognize that. One of the above comments about "The Bends" being merely "average" -- have you actually listened to it? Just as The Smiths provided the blueprint for how alternative rock guitar would sound in the 80's, Radiohgead does this for the 90's with The Bends. Everyone was trying to sound like that in the late 90's. Not only are there fabulous singles on The Bends but the final 4 songs crescendo to one of the best closes of a 90's rock album. And next they gave us "OK Computer" -- talk about progression. Yes, I agree it's not the best album of the last 25 years -- The Queen Is Dead is, of course. But ignoring "OK Computer's" excelence is simply short-sighted. It's an epic affair and a shiny diamond amid the drudge that was released in 1997. Then came my favorite period: KID A, Amnesiac, and Hail To The Thief. Ever the artists, Radiohead refused to compromise and still released dazzeling records that challenge, delight and confound. And you have to find some eery significance in the fact that The Kid A/Amnesiac ART WORK WAS STRANGELY PROPHETIC OF THE 9/11 terror strikes. Radiohead is always ahead of it's time -- while expertly incorporating the past. And this is not to even mention the B-Sides which are utterly outstanding and loaded with classic songs. The only other artist who touches Radiohead's output of sterling B-Sides is Morrissey, right?! Morrissey and Radiohead are holding the few candles that presently exist, burning the flame of the beauty of classic, alternative rock. True Morrissey fans can't deny the artistry of Radiohead and vice versa in regards to Radiohead's fans. Right?!
PS -- This is not to say that Franz Ferdinand, Muse, Interpol, Bloc Party, etc. are not making amazing music -- they simply haven't been around enough/produced enough classic music to be held in the same breath as Moz and RH

    • I agree, Radiohead were the soundtrack to the 90's. In fact during my troubled teenagedom, Ok Computer never left my stereo; it's a mindblowing album.
However, I have to say that their latter work doesn't interest me. Sorry to all those who think such innovation is the greatest thing since sliced bread ... I prefer to hack my own loaf.
I've heard a couple of tracks from Kid A that I liked, but they had nothing on songs like 'Thinking About You', 'Black Star' or 'Exit Music'.
I also found it strange how America embraced them only after they'd gone along the experimental route. But Britain and America rarely agree on issues of musical popularity. Not that I'm knocking the direction Radiohead have taken, it's just not my cup of tea. But, yeah, you can't deny their 'artistry'.

  • These guys are consumate artists. I've met them and they are genuinely kind men. Far more in tune with their fanbase than morrissey has been this past decade.

Thank heavens they are back in the studio. I hope they are able to release LP7 independently as they did with Radiohead TV and give the record labels a giant eff you.
