The Winner Of The Xfm Greatest Indie Band Vote! Excerpt: Thousands of you voted (and nearly as many e-mailed us complaining that your favourite bandmember wasn't represented) and now we can reveal the winner of the Xfm World’s Greatest Ever Indie Supergroup Vote... But we have reason to believe that certain Muse messageboards had been encouraging people to fiddle with their computers so they could multiple vote. Thus things may have been a little Muse-heavy. So disregarding their votes, the band would be formed of Thom Yorke on vocals, Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead on guitar Oasis' Andy Bell on bass and Dave Grohl on drums. Which sounds a little more interesting... Best Singer:

I´m a huge Moz fan and he´s my favourite forever, but Muse deserve much more attention than they get. In the german issue of the Rolling Stone, there was a poll about the best 500 rock songs of all time, and no Muse song in it which was quite surprising in a negative way (btw, 4 Smiths and 1 Moz song in it...).

good to see moz and marr in the xfm consciousness, among people (stipe excepted) who hadn't started when the smiths split. the smiths stand miles above any of the others who are (bar the odd decent song) just safe reading festival major-label 'indie' idiot fodder. for real comparison you have to put moz up against lou reed, the beatles, noel coward etc
i note the absence of shaun ryder, a true original. but the mondays were a bit 'dance' weren't they? yikes , they actually threatened to move things on. of course they were even slightly 'black' and that won't do...
luckily dance is now officially dead in britain and we've gone back to funk-free 4-4 downstroke indie plodding (to accompany the home-improvement shows). could someone please bomb xfm (and nme)? only metaphorically of course. with its figureheads decapitated we can rid ourselves of this poison and give music back its future - which is out there if you look beyond xfm

Muse apparently has a very dedicated fanbase (who are apparently very big Radiohead fans as well, which only makes sense since Muse hav been trying- to no avail- to record their own 'The Bends' for their entire career).

ihardly think the fact that he is still quite young is any reason to overlook his incredible talents- if anything it should make them all the more incredible as it did for the young Johnny Marr. itrust you wouldnt hav said the same about Marr in 1987 when he was even more inexperienced than White is today. hell, the only reason Marr is on the list is for the music he made back then with The Smiths- nothing since would merit him a position.

And yes, Robert (that's with a 't' now) Smith, is a great songwriter, producer and a damn fine bloke, but there's no way his voice or playing lives up to some of these singers and guitarists on this list.
Still, not a good list though; it's always the same with these things.
