This is from a friend who's on the Sparks' Mailing List:

THE MAELS MIX MOZ
Ron and Russell were invited to take part in a themed remix album called The 80’s Remixed on which various artists get to remix another compatible or comparative artist whom they admire. Warner Bros. gave the Maels the choice of remixing a Smiths song or a Morrissey song. They chose to do a unique and extreme 6-1/2 minute remix of “Suedehead”, and Moz happily gave them his blessing. The masterful Mael mix is heavy on vocals and set to a completely different chord progression. The label was gracious enough to let Ron and Russell do their own thing, sparing them the horror of doing a redundant club mix. The album will be released in the UK in April.

  • two Suedeheads in the world? I guess so.

I like Sparks. I can see how their music
and humor would appeal to Morrissey.
Their rendition of Suedehead should be
    pretty unique.

  • i can't imagine suedehead with a sparks sound, but lets hope its that rather than a bit of 'echo and scratching'.
on a similar note does anyone remember Suggs from madness doing it live on C4's White room about 12 years ago? He did it justice.
oh and anyone who has it as an mp3 please mail it to me :)

  • Anything that will give us more keyboards in a Morrissey arrangement, mix or song, will be great in my book - I am looking forward to it, cutie.

  • The Sparks are one of those bands I had never heard of before I knew that Morrissey liked them. A couple of questions that I have about the band:

Not to be naive, but I assumed these guys were a couple. But, I notice they have the same last name...are they related in any other way? Like brothers or something?

What's up with that one dude who always pouts at the camera? Is that some kind of act he puts on...like a spoiled tough guy or what?

I want to know clones. Seriously, I haven't looked into this band much so if someone will indulge me, much will be appreciated!

    ...and how?
  • When I worked as a Housing Benefit assessor there was a caretaker who sat on the front desk. He looked the spitting image of the bloke from Sparks with the Hitler tash. I used to whistle (in my head) "This town ain't big enough for the both of us" every morning.

Eventually he left and so did I.

Umm, not much about Morrissey in this post. I know, the woman in the canteen was the spitting image of Morrissey! (if he has been born a tubby southern lady).
