I don't think Redondo Beach (a song not penned by Moz) is as good as the above. I do think Redondo Beach has more appeal to women than men and that when viewed in light of "Lifeguard Sleeping Girl Drowning" it becomes more appealing. Plus, Moz's voice is so beautiful he could just go "la la la" and it would probably grow on me. Though at the moment I do feel at best indifferent towards the song, and at worse that it is not right for Moz and is rubbish. Also Redondo Beach and "There Is A Light" will be available on the album "Live From Earls Court." The only new song in all these formats is "Noise Is The Best Revenge" (and even that is on the Maida Vale Janice Long Session). I don't think this song will go top 10 in the UK and I don't even think this a serious attempt to get into the charts. This is a promotional tool, to promote the live CD & DVD which is fine. So let's take it for what it is. The good news is the "Playing Easy To Get" (a very good song) should be on a new studio album sometime in 2006.

  • I have exactly no money, but I am just going to have to buy them all. I agree with Belligerent Ghoul that this is not going to chart and is probably not even a serious effort to do so, but I loved "Redondo Beach" at the shows in December. I actually think the song suits Morrissey, and he sings it perfectly. I'm quite excited by this news.

  • Another shoddy Sanctuary cash-in.
Buy all formats and feel deceived.
There is NOTHING new here, as, presumably any live tracks will be on the Live CD, and Noise is the best revenge? Well, everybody already has it don't they?
I will not be buying any of these, just as i didn't buy the "Platinum Edition YATQ", as I already had all the B-Sides.
I will buy the Live at Earls Court CD.
Why didn't Morrissey ensure that a new track was included?
Is it because he couldn't care less?
In the same way that he obviously has relinquished control of the Sleeve Artwork, it now seems that some anonymous suit at Sanctuary decides on the Tracklistings and content of his "product".

  • Surely they won't release another YATQ single now that a campaign for the live album is underway. That wouldn't make sense. So much for "Home Is A Question Mark" and proper studio versions of "Noise Is The Best Revenge" and "I'm Playing Easy To Get".

I've personally never seen a single released from a live album before. Pretty odd if you ask me. Seems like just another cash grab.

  • There Is A Light (Edit)? What's all that about then? How can you edit some one's art like that? It really does seem that the Sanctuary Management have taken over. Moz would never have allowed an edited version of a Smtihs song to be released in the past. The Hollywood sun has done something to his head. Either that or his fax machine has broken down and he knows nothing about it in his Bette Davis isolation.

  • Redondo Beach is horrible.

Why is this atrocity released as a single? Oh well, I doesn't surprise me actually. Morrissey has handpicked some very poor singles in his carreer.

If you want to see Morrissey in to retirement then you are going the best way possible to make sure it happens. If he doesnt view this site personally I am sure he has people that do and let him know what gets said. I only hope they lie to him and tell him that everyone thinks the sun shines out of his behind still.

Quarry was a wonderful album, contrary to those who deem it beneath them for some reason, and I would hate it to be Morrisseys "new music" swansong.

The Live album and DVD are a fantastic gift to me no matter what I have to pay to own them. I have always longed for a live vid or album to contain the full show, ie not drop the smiths songs like "introducing" did. Here we have that, two different shows (although earls court is the combined set list from the last leg of the tour in the UK and not just the earls court tracks) and therefore a differing batch of songs, including Bigmouth for f**ks sake. Surely that on its own is reason to buy!

Redondo beach is for me a fantastic example of how Morrisseys voice has developed over the years, can you imagine moz in 84 attempting this song in this key? I somehow doubt it. This song is sung with a real passion and therefore for me one of the most beautiful examples of Morrissey live. I was at Brum and for me along side Bigmouth and last night it was one of the highlights of the show. I understand people dont like the style, its different, but let Morrissey have his creative choice, dont moan about every little thing he does or you never know, there may not be any output to moan about.

    Think about it eh.

Mozz has written a billion great tunes.

    mediocre effort by Patti S.

i thought he would of learnt after Twinkles' golden lights and Cilla Blacks' work is a four letter word.

  • He probably does have a bit of a smile today.. afterall... he get's 50% of the publishing money that doesn't go to the record label for all songs credited to Morrissey-Marr.. so he's going to get money from the single, the Earl's Court disk and the Manchester DVD.
