  • Moz said near the end of the show tonight that tomorrow they will have "a new repertoire" in reference to the somgs they were playing tonight. In other words, a new set list! God I hope he wasn't kidding.

  • Well do I even need to post the setlist since it was the same as Santa Barbara? Here it is anyway...

    - I Want The One I Can't Have
    - Hairdresser...
    - Suedehead
    - Little Man, What Now?
    - The First Of The Gang To Die
    - Jack The Ripper
    - Late Night, Maudlin Street
    - I Like You
    - Mexico
    - Sister I'm A Poet
    - Alsatian Cousin
    - Everyday Is Like Sunday
    - The World Is Full Of Crashing Bores
    - Meat Is Murder
    - November...
    - Speedway
      ((encore))
    - There Is A Light...

As the previous post mentioned, Morrissey did say if any of us are coming back tomorrow, he was going to change the repertoire. I'm not counting on it... he's just teasing. I personally don't mind having the same setlist night after night... I'm just glad he's on stage again and besides how many more tours does Morrissey have in him? One... maybe two?

Can someone else post some of the comments... I couldn't since I was in front and was unable to write down anything except the setlist.

A few people tried to get on stage, especially during the encore. Morrissey tried pulling some fans on stage, but the security and Morrissey's security would not let anyone get on stage.

Anyway, I enjoyed myself and am quite exhausted from waiting in line since 3am! But how can I sleep now... I'm in Vegas!

    Viva Morrissey!!

  • The house rules are that if you have a floor ticket you can't sit in the balcony, and vice versa, but after talking with some of the ushers and security guys there, it's obvious that you can get down to the floor from the balcony. Just be straight up with the guy who checks your ticket inside, or be sly and say you just want to go to the downstairs bar or something. If on the other hand you want to come upstairs from the floor, that seems to be a bit more tricky, but probablly do-able.

  • I've been a fan of the smiths/morrissey since 1985, but for myriad reasons, I'd never seen either live before last night. It was a very good show, and he has great stage presence, as many of you have suggested, but I still wasn't fully satisfied.

Morrissey has a catalog of two decades to draw on, yet the show barely had 80 minutes of music. You can't count the bell-ringing intro, nor the bell-ringing exit, nor the few minutes between "speedway" and the encore of "there is a light" (which was outstanding, but short of a smiths reunion to play it, I think The Ocean Blue covers it better).

He was on at about 9:15, and lights were fully up by 10:40. Many of you have seen him a lot, so I'm sure that didn't bother you -- you're used to it. For me, well, he didn't exactly sing his life.

I'm not asking for three hours, but even another 15-20 minutes would have made a huge difference. Thirty minutes, and I'd have been deliriously happy.

And the guy behind me literally screaming the lyrics to "meat is murder" sure didn't help matters. Hey buddy, it's OK to sing, even to raise your voice a little as you sing, but give the screaming a rest, as I'm sure you're going to more shows on this tour. Fans will appreciate your efforts.

To end this with a little positive, I thought his comment at the beginning -- "Friday night in outpatients" -- was hilarious. If they'd then ripped into "Stop Me ...," I'd have gone haywire with happiness.

  • I thought it was a great show. Compared to the last time in Vegas, Moz and the band sounded alot better. the last time they played in Vegas it was the tail end of the tour so I am sure they were quite wore out. The new songs IMO sounded great, Moz's voice was very impressive. All those bootleg lives you can download do no justice. His voice sounded better on those new songs, probably that they are new and he is not that "bored" of singing them.
One more thing, doesnt Boz look like a school teacher with that beard..LOL. but I do give props to the whole band they were right on.

  • Alright, I'm sure you've seen the setlist. I'm just gonna say, I've seen Morrissey's tours since Malajusted, when I was old enough to go to one. I have never seen him this grand before. I was in such a good mood. He talked a lot to the audience, and...it was just awesome.
Before he played "Jack The Ripper" he gave alittle story about, the White Chapel Murders of and said, "If one night on the streets of....someone should happen to come up behind you on the streets of....who could it be? Then there was silence, I screamed out, "Jack the Ripper." and he repeated, who...who is it? Then everybody said, "Jack the Ripper."
    Morrissey says, "Oscar Wilde"
Then went on to play "Jack the Ripper."
Oh it was wonderful. The whole friggen thing was just great. I mean this was Morrissey. The MAN. Seriosly, I mean, its like, this is it. This is Morrissey Raw.
Its Saturday now, one more night to go. OH MAN O MAN OH MAN OH MAN. I'm so fugging excited, even more now then I was before the show yesterday. It was awesome.

    I wish you'd always be,
    Morrissey.

  • I've been a Morrissey fan now since 1986, and have seen him perform somewhere around 12 times...I've lost count!

ON Tuesday, my girlfriend and I took both our first, and completely impromptu trip to Vegas, and by our last night there, we remembered that Morrissey was in town. Sold out, of course. We hung out for several hours in front of the venue, which was basically off to the side from hundreds of slot machines. We asked tons of concert-goers if they had extra tickets, coming across one lad who only had one extra ticket. We pointed him to a single person also sitting out front, who minutes before we had hoped was a scalper. I really hope he enjoyed the show - he appeared as if he might be ill, with a cold of some sort.

We kept waiting until almost 10, hoping that someone would show up late with extra tickets. No luck. Oh well, we can only hope San Diego's show will fancy more scalpers! Oh, and by the way, if anyone happens to have 2 extra tickets to San Diego, by all means, PLEASE email me at [email protected]! Thanks!

  • As someone wrote a comment on negativity regarding morrissey from the santa barbara review I would like to follow up! I totally AGREE!! If you have something negitive to say about Morrissey keep it to yourself or tell your lame, useless, mtv friends! This is a morrissey site, not a open forum for idiots!! If you are a true morrissey fan and you have negitive things to say about him, then find another artist to be a fair weather fan. That is not what morrissey is about ( if you know anything about him) He is simply Morrissey and can do no wrong. One other thing..... I hope not to offend too many true fans on this point, but i wish people would take the time to spell out morrissey's name!!!!!!! Yea moz angeles is cute but when referring to him why can't lazy people take a few more seconds to properly spell his entire name out!!! After all there is only ONE Morrissey. And, he is .....well you all know..... a legend!!!!!

  • A close source to Morrissey has revealed to me that Moz is changing his setlist. Apparently he didn't realize that a couple of hundred people on an unofficial fansite were unhappy with the setlist selection remaing the same. He would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvienience this may have caused a certain Mr. Anony Mous as he traveled the nation following the tour. He also wanted to me to let you know that since no one cares for the new songs he will go back to the drawing board and try and write something a bit more interesting. He didn't realize his 20 + years of lyric writing had led him to this low point musically, and again, extends his deepest apologies.

  • I am not sure if I can fully describe the wonder that was Morrissey on stage. He was in top form, laughing and joking with the audience. Towards the end he said, "...and may God, and Jesus, and Mary bless you." It was strange and beautiful at the same time. The crowd was estatic and moved in a giant wave of emotion as everyone sang along. Morrissey looked and sounded wonderful. When he opened with "I Want the One I Can't Have", the energy was unbelieveable. To all of those that may have doubts- toss them aside. Morrissey is better than ever. His new songs were great. He seemed as if he were playing them all as if they were new. And when he sang "Hairdresser on Fire", the crowed screamed back, "I'VE GOT FAITH IN YOU!" The beautiful thing? He actually smiled and looked embarassed.

It was the most fantastic show I have ever seen, and I will never forget it. Morrissey- I love you- never change. And to all of the fans, you are what makes a difference. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • the vegas show was my first live morrissey experience. i have been a fan for less than a year, but before i discovered his music, something was missing from my life and morrissey really fills that void by putting himself out there for people like me to love and adore. the concert did not disappoint me, but rather reaffirmed for me the reason i love the man and his music.

he is such a beautiful person. anybody remember when he said something along the lines of, "you are all very appealing to this eye and to this ear"? he has such a wonderful way of making people feel like they aren't alone in the world.

i can't wait for the anaheim show. i wasn't sure if i was going to want to spend all that money before the vegas show, but it will be so worth it.

We are the change that we seek.

  •     i just got home from vegas. my computer is broken, so i can't really post too much... but i'll give a little summary...
all in all it was fun... of course, i was way drunk and got kicked out.
the afterparty was allright... boz said he would wear a merc suit, but i don't know if he did, since i didn't make it back on time on saturday. he contributed to my deliquency by getting me a drink, therefore, he's the man.
morrissey was running around like a little kid wiht a huge smile on his face... i swear to god he was lighting cherry bombs in the bathroom... he was there with some guy, but i don't think that was his security... anyway, he was pretty cool, from what i can remember... my friend took some pictures.
there were also hot girls there, which was cool, since i was expecting that in vegas. i don't know how late everyone stayed, but i left (got kicked out) around 1:30 or so. morrissey seemed amused by my drunkeness as i started to break stuff. as i said, "it's rock n' roll."

all and all a good time. i just wish i could remember a little more (and there's so much i left out, but, let's leave it at that).

  • well, what can i say that hasn't been said already? morrissey tour [morrisseytour.com] has a couple of good reviews of the Vegas shows including transcriptions of most of the amusing song-punctuating banter.

king cheetah. well, i didn't care for them much. i think it was because the lead singer's voice (not to mention, hair) reminded me a little too much of the frontman of that oh-so-very-hyped-to-death Seattle band. i must say, though, that it was very rude for the crowd to cheer when the lead singer announced that they were about to play their last song, especially since he had mentioned Morrissey twice & how much the band loved him.

one major improvement i noticed on this tour was Morrissey's return to actually singing the songs properly. on the "Oye Esteban" tour, Morrissey's playful singing style just got out of hand. the "r-rolling", talking in the middle of songs, & leaving-off lines kind of cheapened the songs for me. but this tour seems a return to faithfully performing the songs, which i couldn't be happier about.

a couple of times during the show, i glanced over at the bartender nearby me. during the performance, he wasn't busy, so he was just checking out the crowd and the show. he seemed to be shocked at what he was witnessing. it's as though he were thinking to himself: "i can't believe this guy Morrissey is THIS popular". isn't this always the case, though? the world won't listen, indeed. nearby me there was a couple who, i believe, danced through the entire concert. not just to themselves, but DANCING, dancing... complete with turns & everything. interesting drug? maybe... but they were probably just high on Morrissey. my girlfriend sang out loud to every song, and occasionally would exclaim: "oh my God" in disbelief about being in such close proximity of The Man. i, myself, unconsciencely swayed back & forth to each song, silently mouthng the words to myself... relishing every precious note. my GF later confessed to me that she cried on the plane back to New York the next day, just knowing that Morrissey was still somewhere in Las Vegas and she couldn't be.

    I Want The One I Can't Have
what an opener! the sound was a little less than ideal during this concert. maybe it was the venue acoustics, but things were a little muffled. overall, i'm not complaining, though. it was still probably the best concert of my life, Moz or non-Moz.
    Hairdresser On Fire
the only song in which you might say Dean missed a beat. that little drum break just before "was the client..." seemed a little off. (artistic liscence maybe?) having said that, i think Dean did a fine job... and on top of that, he's a very nice gentleman. i got to talk to him very briefly after the show & he was happy to sign a CD for me and seemed very personable. i hope he sticks around.
    Little Man, What Now?
an underrated song i've always loved very much, and was shocked to see on this tour's setlist. before this tour, fans rarely mentioned this gem... but i'm glad Morrissey decided to dust it off for us.
    I Like You
i love everything about this song but the title! what's next, a song called "You Are Nice"? come on!
    Mexico
all i have to say about this song is that i've had the refrain "For want of my love" in my head all weekend. i love the contrast (musically & lyrically) between the narrator's smelling of the "cool lover's air" & then the "American capital waste". pretty nice song, although maybe it's a little to direct. i don't know... maybe it'll grow on me.
    Sister I'm A Poet
    pure heaven.
    Alsatian Cousin
i didn't like the dog barking during this song. it seemed odd & unnecessary. what's it supposed to mean, anyway?
    Everyday Is Like Sunday
usually with shows, i'm of the opinion that faster is better. surprisingly, i really liked this slowed down version of "Everyday". i like Boz's new look, too. he's like the band scientist, switching from guitar to

It seemed like everyone there was passing dirty looks at one another.. there was even a fight right in front of me because one group of guys was calling another "faggots".
