It's finally starting -- the 2002 tour begins on Friday in Phoenix, Arizona. In all the anticipation some questions remain. Is there a purpose to this tour, does there need to be one? Will this lead to a new recording/record label? Or is it possible that we are near the end? Perhaps we can find a direction in the new songs that are played.

It may be difficult for me to keep up with the tour as I am planning to travel to several of them, but I will do my best. As in the past, I will be focusing on keeping things organized with the site and will be relying on all of you for your stories, reviews, set lists, photos and general documentation of this tour. This is the planned format - shortly after each concert has finished a story will go up on the main page. Post your info in the comments section and I will try to highlight the most informative and interesting posts.

Thanks in advance for the contributions to the documentation of this tour, I know they will be stellar. Things will start to move quickly starting Friday, check the tour page to keep up with all the shows. Also check out MorrisseyTour.com and Ambitious-Outsiders.com for their coverage also.

  • We all know this is the greatest site, and your post helps put this tour in persepctive David.

We are all excited and we all have questions, and I know as I follow the tour on this website, many of these questions will be answered as the posts flow in.

Your post to me right back to the last tour which I followed on M-Solo as it snaked its way across country.

Thanks again. See you all in Phoenix.......woohoo!

I'd like to add a French merci to you David for the job you have already done. I feel u are a bit anxious about the tour as though you feared or knew it could be disappointed to you. I need to tell i was until very recently a sleepy Moz fan, he only represented somethin like 25% of my listening to music. Thanks to you and the site, i was taken by the flow, spent yesterday twice my salary to pick up tickets for the London shows, spent a fortune on train, hotels to get from Paris to London. I dont regret it. We will not regret. That's what passion is all about. We are fuckin teenagers, fuckin outsiders and this goddamned music is the perfect expression of what we feel in the inside. Why is this man the vector ? Why is this man the voice, soul and brain which has been able to say and sing those words then we will never know. Have a good friday. I get my september 17 and 18 as well. There is a place in our brains to store those memories and i guess we can look at it with pride and great pleasure when we are old.

Since I don't have a 'first fans' ticket, I think I'll wait until this afternoon. Besides, the weather today will be, whatelse, SUNNY and about 109 degrees! Cheers to those already there!

  • Not to take someone else's scoop and make it my own, this was from the "Diary" section on Morrisseytour.com. I rarely read their diaries and didn't know who else would, so here's basically the important stuff regarding possible songs they may play tonight and beyond.

"Last week I talked to Boz Boorer at the Underground. At first I didn't recognize him. Maybe it was his uhh, relaxed appearance, or maybe it was because I was awfully jetlagged and buzzing on a grasshopper. Boz was jolly and voluble as usual. According to my foggy-jetlagged-impaired-inebriated memory "I Want the One I Can't Have" (or was it "Still Ill"?) was played and Boz mentioned that it was one of the songs they were practicing. He said they were practicing NEW songs and old songs, Smiffs songs and songs th'Lads hadn't played in years.

He had been practicing with Dean Butterworth only for six weeks. He has no idea what the vocals sound like on the new songs; he just plays the instrumentals. I guess Morrissey just practices by himself in the shower! Hah hah! Alain and Gary were supposed to arrive in Los Angeles on Saturday, the 3rd."
    That was from "Mel".

NIPP told the owners at Rialto nothing about the show by last week except times to expect the bands to play. 8-8:15 for opener and 9-9:15 for headliner with the show to be over around 10:15-10:30 at the latest. This is all tentative, so don't hold my feet to the coals if other circumstances change these times. I'm hoping they will play longer, but, as everyone knows, past experience point to no. I'm assuming that this will hold true to tonight's show as well.
It is not only going to be 100something today, but there's humidity on top of that! Good luck with all that.
