Johnny Marr: 'I'll reform The Smiths when the government steps down' - NME.com

Excerpt:

When asked if the band's enduring popularity had ever made him tempted to speak to Smiths' frontman Morrissey about the prospect of a reunion, he replied: "I don't not speak to him, because that implies a certain standoff or whatever.

"He's doing his thing and I'm doing mine, and we go through periods of time when we're in communication and at times when we're not," he continued. "I'm not sure he wants to communicate, so I'll just carry on doing what I'm doing, and live my life and be a musician."

He went on to add: "We won't be reforming this week. Maybe if the government stepped down. If this government stepped down, I'll reform the band....

Well, hope this show wasn't just a rumour, as it has now been removed from the HNLNOW site, and it is not listed on Bamp Projects site also. I emailed Bamp, but didn't get a response yet. Let's just hope the announcement for ticket sales comes soon!

An anonymous person writes:

Hi have found two tapes that I was given years ago that have been forgotten in a box. One contains 'We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful' 'You're The One For Me Fatty' 'National Front Disco' and 'Certain People I Know' it is a TDK 90 cassette with 'Morrissey Tracks 23/02/92 written on it. To my untrained ears it sounds like the album tracks but with drum 'click ins' and rough slightly extended (by a few seconds) endings.

The other is just entitled 'Morrissey Tunes - Demo's 1' in the same handwriting and is undated. This appears to contain the instrumental backing track of an whole album, but maybe it is just a set list but as I am not all that knowledgeable on Morrissey I have yet to identify the songs.

Have these sort of items ever come up for sale and would they be of interest to collectors?
Hello!

I'd like everyone to know about a Smiths tribute show featuring The
Fake Smiths, a 5-piece Smiths cover band.

The show is this Friday, March 2nd, at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville TN.

There will be two opening acts also playing Smiths and Morrissey songs.
