this is way more interesting:

maybe this story is known to some of you, but i will rehash for dramatic effect:

the morning of 9/11, i was having a hard time waking up in that I kept hitting the snooze button. It was roughly about an hour before the planes hit.

In those moments of sleep, I dreamt that I was driving from a small town in the country side and was going to a large city as a stop-over. I checked into a hotel that was the tallest building in the skyline. There were jet planes that flew near it.

The hotel caught fire. For some reason, I couldn't decide if I should leave or not.

And then I woke up.

Of course, nearly an hour later, I went to work and saw that we were about to go into breaking news as the towers had been hit.

Now, I was already sort of weirded out by this dream because the hotel was the tallest building and there were planes flying near it. However, I figured that the travel from the small town and through the woods and the fact that it was a hotel probably meant something else that just didn't fit.

Tonight, I was watching Nova which did a story about the NSA and the movements of the hijackers within the US before they launched their attack. I found out two interesting things:

A lot of them intentionally stayed in small towns and avoided big cities and stayed in seedy hotels that didn't take personal info because they felt like this helped them escape detection.

One hijacker listed the Marriott Hotel in the WTC on his Visa as his residence while in the US.

First of all, I had no idea that the WTC had a hotel. I guess it makes sense in hindsight because a lot of business transacts there. It wasn't actually part of the two towers, but was it's own tower that had access to both of the towers.

Hotel (Score:1)
There was a very interesting documentary about that hotel on British TV last year.

When the towers collapsed there were still quite a few people in the hotel. Most of it was instantly destroyed but one small wing stayed intact - the people inside then made their escape over several hours finding their way through the corridors and staircases that still (barely) existed.

(Bit like the Poseidon adventure - kind of..!)

Was a moving story of courage and sheer luck.
