In Charlotte and not a single person sporting traditional Muslim headdress has been killed. In London, despite what has happened there this morning, I'd assume that the same thing can be said.

We've quite a ways to go before we can truly claim to be an overwelmingly civilized society but still, when compared to hardcore mid-eastern anti-westerners, it's quite sickeningly obvious we live a far more sophisticated existence.

I mean really, do you think for one fucking second that if either the United States or the U.K were to bomb Iran, citizens spawned in either one of those two beautiful nations would be free to walk the streets of Tehran? Of course not. Instead, said citizens would be booking their way gone. They'd be making damn sure destiny doesn't dictate them headless bodies on al Jazeera, with images of their ghostless flesh splashed across television screens the Arab world over. They'd probably also race as far away as possible from the realization that if killed, embittered amblers would undoubtedly end up spitting on their lifeless remains. Oh but tables turned though, and it's a different story all together. Arabs here are far better off than Westerners there. Truly, I've yet to see CNN cash in on Western citizens snuffing Arabs in Times Square.

Utterly, utterly undone.

With love for London,

Sullen

i can be so viciously anti-american sometimes that i overlook thoughts like this one that you have presented.

i want desperately to disagree with it... but instead I will sit and ponder for awhile.

thanks.

I understand how this can be seen as no better or worse than the American or British bombing Iraq, because both are forms of terrorism. It's just that in the aftermath, only one side slice off heads as a form of protest. So again, which side is more civilized?

If I was an Arab in London today, I'd be thanking whatever god I beleived in that the people there have a conscience and can reason, even when faced with such unjustified horror.

Well said Sullen, my own thoughts exactly. And yet I've seen many an Iman rant at the moral decadence of the West.

Once again it's the ideological mind-virus of religion, most especially the anti-relativist notion of having absolute moral authority as given to them by an imaginary God, that's to blame.

Thanks for the concerned email, H, by the way.
