You are a silly! (Score:1)
It made me laugh- your grumpiness.

Or was it sadness? Are you sad? You do often seem so. :-(

I'm sorry if you are.

So, do you like Ringleader very much? Favourites?

It's nice to hear you name-checking Republic of Loose. I've never heard anyone else mention them before, but perhaps this is because I live in my own world. I have one of their songs. It's not the one you're listening to, but I like it.

Well. Age means nothing. But I will admit that being on different continents is a matter of some significance.

I would rather be a happy asshole. Really. But I suppose I believe that as there is some judgement after life it would not be worth it...in the long term. Think about it though: happiness! There is nothing that you could want more.

Maslow reckoned in his 'hierarchy of needs' that if you have succeeded on every stage then you are happy:

          1. Physiological needs-Warmth, food, air etc.

          2. Safety needs- Accommodation, security, order, stability etc.

          3. Belongingness needs- Family, affection, relationships etc.

          4. Esteem needs- Self-esteem, achievement, independence, responsibility etc.

          5. Self-actualisation- Self-fulfilment.

I don't think I get far enough, but I believe it's rubbish anyway. Obviously it has some truth, but I don't think happiness works that way. You either have it or you don't. It is a shame that you don't. But I think that to have an understanding of misery can make a person much greater. Much more enlightened, if you like. So perhaps you are achieving something in your sadness.

I don’t own an axe either, but I had a dream last night that I had a gun. I don’t know why.

England has been far too hot recently, although it has been rather muggy these past few days and we have had rain today. I like the rain- I like the smell of wet pavement. And I particularly enjoy storms. They seem so majestic, like there is some anger being vented from somewhere. I cannot stand the heat…I am a delicate flower, clearly. People I know cannot stand the long ‘miserable’ English winters, but I like them…the fact that you can snuggle up inside on the sofa with soup, and know that it is freezing outside. And I find that the sun makes people far too excitable. Winter brings subdued behaviour.

“You: "I understand your exasperation with life, though. It can be excessively tiring."
Me: That's the understatement of the year, perhaps decade!”

Actually, I did write a lot more on the misery of life, but I rubbed it out. I did not want to seem too depressing.

Oh, so did you put your Ringleader songs in order of preference? I suppose if I did it would be:

          Ganglord
I will see you in far off places
          Life is a pigsty
          At last I am born
The father who must be killed
          Song from under the floorboards.

I can really get into On the Streets I Ran at times, but I do know what you mean.

You have killed me…love it! It makes me dance and sing, it makes me think of Morrissey’s dancing in the video. I listened to it last night when I was picking peas on the allotment. I desperately wanted to sing, but there were a few old men around…I was too ashamed of my singing. I don’t think it’s the best lyrically, but it IS catchy.

(The one that I seem to have gone off the most is, surprisingly, The Youngest was the Most Loved. I don’t know why.)

A lot of the songs that you say are boring I do not necessarily LOVE, but when I saw him live I thought these were the ones that came out the best. Strange. Anybody’s Hero made my heart…I don’t know…do something strange! But I do love To Me You Are a Work of Art, which was immense live (or so I thought)…to have the audience singing it back at him must have been amazing. Boy Happy- this seemed to be the one that Morrissey enjoyed singing the most.

Sigh. I am not vain. But I am acutely aware of the idea of the importance of beauty that is SHOVED down our throats every day. I read an interesting article recently by a woman who spent a year pretending to be a man. She said that immediately she did not feel judged by looks, she could walk down the street without being appraised. However, she said that she felt much more assessed by character as a man. She tried to say that this was wearing and unfair, but really I would much rather be constantly assessed by character than looks. It seems much fairer, don’t you think?

          Actually, you have
