Northern Bird
(email not shown publicly)

I left the North, I travelled South.... Hello! lou, 30, living in North London with the luscious Rallen, but originally from the North West. A girl with a thorn in my side, my main loves are good food, fine wine, BDSM and cats. Semi-retired from Moz-solo, I check in occasionally to check the journals of good friends. Not drowning anymore...

Chocolate and snogs from gay boys

09:05 AM

My birthday was a bit crap in the end, but they always tend to be anti-climactic. The only great points were the messages left on my journal, and everyone in work giving me pressies and singing happy birthday (which they don't do for anyone else!). Rallen was really ill that evening so we had to have a quiet night, so I went in Chat. It was really great, just like the old days with lots of the old regulars in.

It was crap getting no cards because of the postal strike but I figured I'd get them the next day. Friday came and still no cards. Had an annoying disagreement with my bastard boss again. First he tried to get me to go on 6pm appointment on my birthday!!!! Then he phoned me at 7.30pm telling me to meet him at 7.45am the next morning to go to south London on appointments. It was my fucking birthday!! So I went with him (TOTALLY unnecessary) and then he told me to go with him again on Tuesday. I told him I HAVE to revise as there's only 2 weeks left and he went into one. So I left and phoned the big boss who TOTALLY stood by me and said it was ridiculous to be going out on appointments. My boss is not a nasty person, he's just a fucking gutless pathetic coward who puts work before everything as he's so shit scared of getting sacked. Like the company would sack someone who works 12 hours a days and doesn't even claim back the money he's spent on petrol and parking. Wanker.

Anyway! Friday night was the official birthday celebration. Met my mates Kevin and George in the Cuban bar in Islington and had a lovely meal. It was chicken with avocado, fruity rice and black bean sauce mmmm. Rallen had pigeon and chorizzo. Then everyone else arrived and I had a wonderful time drinking cocktails and mixing with all my different friends. We then went onto Popstarz, a gay indie club. After waiting 45 mins to get in (thus missing the free entry, cunts) we had a great time dancing to indie classics. Also got snogged by my mate Stewart (who's gay), which I put down to the MDMA he was on, lol.

We left there at 1.30am and by the time we'd waited for a BLOODY night bus it was getting on for 3am by the time we got into bed. Then we had to get up at 8.30am because Rallen's friends were visiting for the weekend. I had a HIDEOUS hangover and had to attempt cleaning the flat after 5 hours sleep which was pretty hellish. When they arrived we had some coffee then headed out to get burgers - nothing like a Big King to sort out a hangover. Then had a nice hair of the dog in the form of a vodka and orange juice in the Chandos in Trafalgar Square. After that we headed to Fortnum & Mason to get the best chocolates in the world. Was feeling much better by then!

Next we headed down to the Saachi gallery on the South Bank. It was really really amazing. I've never been into art at all but it was all so great. I especially loved the Tracey Emmin bed - it sums up female single life in your 20s so well, lol. There was also loads of stuff by an artist called Sarah Lucas and I think she's amazing. One or two things didn't impress me but most of her stuff was stunning.

We then staggered home exhausted and watched some Alan Partridge before heading out to a Spanish restaurant for some fabulous tapas. It was so great to go out as a foursome with really lovely people. We came home full of red wine and finished our chocolates before heading off to bed. The only downside of the day was that my cards and packages still didn't arrive, and now I think they've been stolen. If they don't come on Monday I'll have to report it. However I did collect the package my ex had sent - £50 of vouchers and a HUGE box of Thorntons continental chocolates (my favourites). Oh my god he's so fabulous. He's so kind and generous to me, bless his heart.

Today I did my famous London tour - 4 hours of landmarks, gorgeous houses and a coffee stop. It was nice cause Rach had never been to London, and now she's seen it all!

So that was the weekend. Now it's early evening and I'm looking forward to chilling out with my boy before a week of intense revision and my impending period (boo!).

Love to all.

Lou xx
