lateness
What is it with people being late?
Last Wednesday I was waiting for my dad to come over to give my daughter her birthday present (he couldn't make it to her party because he slept in) & then I was waiting for my friend to come over. Now, to give her credit she was only 'late' by 8 minutes...so we sat around waiting for my dad. I decided to ring him & he said he couldn't make it after all. OK...thanks for letting us now! We went out for lunch & had a really nice afternoon, lunch in the local playground so the kids could play & not be bored by adult talk.
Then the next day I went to my dad's work to collect the present...much easier than spending (wasting) another day waiting for him. After that, I had to hurry to the other side of town to make it to a picnic. Got there on the dot of the arranged meeting time. Only to find that I was the only one there! Yep, a full hour we waited until the others arrived. No apologies either.
I know that I have Virgo tendencies towards punctuality...but this is getting a bit much for me! Especially in the age of the mobile phone...there isn't much excuse for sending a message or something. I've kind of decided that maybe I should be more like 'them' & not worry so much about turning up on time.
On the weekend we had my daughter's 6th birthday proper...I think the never-ending party is getting a bit out of control. But anyway, this was her Actual Birthday, so I took her & two of her friends to the Circus. I had my doubts about this as I am not really that keen on circuses....but it was her wish so off we went. They played a game of clows, got a bag of fairy floss & some lighting up fairy wand thing. We left the circus at the intermission....I don't think they were really all that impressed by it and I can hardly blame them. I began to think how extraordinary do these circus acts need to be? We saw people doing amazing things - things they must have trained really hard to do - but it was all a bit of a yawn! And the funny thing was I think they lied about where the circus performers were from. My thought it that they were all Australian, but they gave them 'exotic' locations that they came from.
My study is going ok...with my partner off work for this week of the school holidays I've had a good chance to get some work done. With only 5 weeks before the thesis is due in...I was getting a little bit panicked. But in all honesty the only way it is going to get done...is by doing it! What a revelation hey! So, I've been breaking it into little "chunks" (as my supervisor calls it) and finally feeling more confident about getting it done.
Got the first childrens art class on Monday...that is my new stress! But I am sure it will all go fine...as long as I turn up on time :)

My husbands brothers are ALWAYS late...especially when we all go for Sunday lunch at their parents. We are always there an hour before lunch...they always turn up just as lunch is being served or just after we have started eating!. What makes me more cross is that we are the ones with children yet we are always up and organized and there on time. They are only responsible for getting themselves there and can't even manage THAT!
I took my two to a circus in the school field last year. I wasn't keen and only agreed to go as there were no animal "acts". We had great fun though...Rachel loved all the exotic costumes and Dan loved the slap-stick comedy of the clowns!
Good luck for Monday mate...I reckon you'll be fan-BLOODY-tastic...and on time!
I hope you recieved my E-Mail address ok?
