Oh, its been a l-o-n-g day!

Had to take the little one to hospital, he has a middle ear infection, again, and was in pain all day that I couldn't let it go on. So we went to my daughters assembly. Didn't want to let her down as she was showing of her Princess Violet puppet to the school, so after she was done - we raced to the hospital.

The kids were pretty well behaved considering where they were. The Dr was quite nice about it all too, explained everyting to me as I am one of those people who like to know everything. My mum says my first words were "whats happening? what's going on?" - which I apparently learnt from a parrot at the zoo.

I don't think I've ever stopped wanting to know the details....but anyway, he has an appointment to get 'grommits' - not quite sure what these are as yet. And he is sleeping next to me, the first sleep he's had in about 48 hours.

Plus, my thesis is due tomorrow!!!!! Major stress....I'll be up all night. Even now I shouldn't be Here, I should be working. I'll never learn....

Also trying not to worry about the possibility of owning a house on Saturday. I can't decide if I should go to the auction or not. Part of me can't stand the stress, the other half worries that I won't know what is going on there. What to do?

Haven't heard much from my Stateside brother, only that he met Jimmy Fallon (?) at Disneyland & he is currently in Las Vegas. Strangely, I look forward to seeing him again, absence must make the heart grow fonder :)

Now, I simply must get organised or I never will.

Fingers crossed for you with the thesis mate...I reckon you have worked really hard and will do brilliantly!

You need to speak to Anais about the whole ear scenerio as one of her little ones has the same problem and she knows all about grommits! I will ask her to advise you further!!

    Grommits (Score:1)
    Hi Mel,

Well. My oldest has had tonsilitus pretty much constantly for over a year, and the upshot of it is that he gets glue ear, which means temporary deafness. Basically the little hair things in the eardrum that transmit noise usually operate in a vacuum, but if theres an infection the vacuum fills up with liquid and can't drain. Grommits drain away the fluid instantly so that the pressure is gone and the child can hear again.

They are put in under general anasthetic and disintegrate over a year or two. My sons glue ear has gone for the minute but it often goes in the summer and comes back in Winter. We live under constant threat of grommits! Try not to worry, its really common I think.

Hope that helped in some way - well done on the thesis!
