01:32 PM - A crack on the head….
|
|
What’s an entry without a tale of woe from me? So back in Dec kitty decided to munch on my hand so bad that he actually punctured a blood vessel on the back of my left hand. This had me gripping my hand in a death grip in hopes of calming the pain. However the pain took a different route and had me crashing to the floor where I cracked my head and twisted my right leg up under the dishwasher.
I woke with my head rolling back and forth with a splitting headache, glasses halfway across the kitchen floor and unable to stand on my right foot…here kitty, kitty, kitty…. Mother said after the crash – me falling on the floor- it was about 4mins before I hobbled back into the living room. I could have been seizuring for all she knew or cared.
My head was still quite sore the next day so off to emergency I went. CAT scans and x-rays showed nothing broken or too bruised. However, they gave me some antibiotics in case kitty saliva made it into my blood stream.
A few days later mother asked me if my right hand was sore and I said no. She said she only asked as she had noticed me using my left hand a lot – I’m right handed. Of course after she mentioned this I took notice and did find myself reaching with my left hand more than my right. In fact I was halfway through ironing a shirt with my left hand before it suddenly seemed weird to me.
Anyways I kept re-injuring my right leg – twisted it getting the truck unstuck out of a snow pile in the back alley, stepped on a kitty toy ball, missed a step in the back porch which had me in pain to the point where I thought I finally broke something in it. So again off to emergency I went. They poked, prodded and x-rayed me again – should be glowing by now- and nothing broken however, they were concerned where a lot of my pain was, in my right calf and thought I could have a blood clot. The Dr measured my calves to determine the extent of the swelling on my right one and asked if I was left-handed. When I explained that I was now he said sometimes that happened in head cases with trauma but was rare, LOL!!!! So now I pretty much am using my left hand from eating to wiping but still write with my right. I wished I had of asked him why he asked me that as I wonder if the size of your calves determines dominate hand????
So I’ve had 2 sonograms on my calf and thigh and am on blood thinners. I had a paper cut last week that wouldn’t stop bleeding – kinda scary actually.
So there’s the update on the nut in her shell.

I am sorry to hear of all your physical ailments, Lucretia, but glad to hear that you didn't crack your skull open when you fell. Interesting thing your doctor told you about head injuries affecting one to use the other hand than the one would normally use!
Having said that, Does the body rule the mind, or does the mind rule the body... ~ in this case, it would appear that the *mind* rules the body, lol.
Take care and good to find an entry from you, Lucretia!
