02:17 PM - I got it together...
|
|
So, Saturday was a bit of a no-go day, but Sunday I sorted myself out. Read through some stuff for an hour when I first woke, then got up and my Dad came over to support me, even though he had a killer headache. He stayed downstairs and watched TV while I went up and worked on my presentation. Bit gutted that I skipped church, but sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. So, I worked hard, thought about it a lot, then went and had lunch before going to my rehearsal. We ran act one and I thought I was pretty good! The rest of the cast did okay too!!!
After rehearsal I had a quick drink (never ask for a Mojito in a Wetherspoons, they haven't got a clue) before going home, eating, and watching Doctor Who. It was the best episode of this series which really improved my mood. I then finished the presentation and spent a couple of hours chilling out watching TV.
This morning I woke, had a nice long shower, dressed up smart in my suit, went to work, got on with my usual stuff and then... then I had my interview.
I was a bit waffley (I usually am), but I think my presentation went okay, then they asked me a bunch of questions and I think I was pretty blah at those too, but I guess I pretty much said the right things because, after a short time of consideration, they told me I'd got the job!
The best bit about it was that I managed to mention Morrissey in the interview! It just wouldn't have been right otherwise!
The worst thing was that there was one other candidate going for it. It was an internally advertised vacancy, and I knew there was someone else, but I hadn't asked who. Turned out it was one of my really good mates and now I feel sad because I know they would have wanted the job as much as me. But these things happen for a reason and I am sure our friendship will be undamaged.
So, I have a month's notice to work in my current role as PA to the Director of Finance and Resources, and then, at the start of July I move to the Network Support department, as Mind Link Coordinator, a jump of two grades and a £10k pay rise, which I am thrilled about as money had started to be a slight concern. See, I was right that He would provide!
The new role is much more involved and I will be working with service user groups, helping to facilitate events and conferences and building the relationship with Mind and the service users themselves, encouraging them to be more involved with us so they can advise and inform our work. It's a big step up for me, but it's something I can really get my teeth into and make a positive contribution to people's lives and the campaigning work of Mind.
What a result!
Anyway, best get off to bed now - I have to travel to Stafford tomorrow for an appeal hearing in my role as Union rep...
Brilliant - I'm at my parents as my internet is still non-existent and my Mum just came in to say congratulations. She gave me a card... I asked if she bought it for this interview business... No, she'd got it in case The Suedeheads won on Eggheads! Well, lucky we didn't as she only had the one card!
