I'm not the man you think I am...I am a poor freezingly cold soul...I have just discovered that prudence never pays. Now, we must wait for the right time

DENMARK 1 SENEGAL 1 by JacquesTheLad

Once again, the early start to the game put paid to my viewing of it, as I was still with beautiful women at that time. Never mind, the Danes took the lead in the first half through a Jon Dahl Tomasson penalty. Having been pushed in the back by Diao, the Feyenoord man dusted himself down to slot home his third goal of the tournament.

After the break, however, Senegal scored one of the goals of the tournament. A tackle inside their own half obtained possession, and then four passes later Diao found himself through on goal, placing the ball past Sorensen with the outside of his right foot. It was a wonderful goal by Senegal, and Diao had turned from villain to hero. That was soon to change, however, as Diao was shown the red card for a reckless challenge, going in with his studs, and was given a straight red, which means he'll miss their last game with Uruguay.

Overall, a decent result for both sides, who now only need to avoid defeat to go through.

CAMEROON 1 SAUDI ARABIA 0 by JacquesTheLad

Having been whipped 8-0 by Germany in their opener, Saudi Arabia came into this match in a much more organised manner. Cameroon couldn't break them down at all, and Saudi Arabia's counter attacking style almost stole the win for them. It was not to be however, as midway through the second half Samuel Eto'o finally broke past the defence to put the ball past the keeper.

Saudi Arabia became the first team to be eliminated, but it looks increasingly likely that Cameroon will need to beat Germany to progress. A 2-0 win for Ireland over Saudi Arabia will put the Africans out of the competition unless they beat Germany.

FRANCE 0 URUGUAY 0 by JacquesTheLad

The first goalless game of the tournament in the tournament's 20th game left France in a procarious position in Group A. The turning point occurred in 26 minutes, when Theirry Henry was sent off for a reckless challenge on Romero. It changed the complexion of the game, as ten-man France struggled.

The game became nasty towards the end of the first half, with Dario Silva being involved in some diving and also in some bad challenges. As tensions frayed, the half-time whistle was greeted by all neutrals. After the break, Uruguay had a few chances through Alvaro Recoba, but couldn't capitalise on their man advantage. France, on the other hand, found it difficult to create many clear-cut opportunities, with David Trezeguet operating as a lone striker.

This result means that both teams can still qualify, but only if they beat their respective opponents (France v Denmark, Uruguay v Senegal) by a two-goal margin. Otherwise, the French could be finding themselves on a surprisingly early flight home. If they're going to do it, they'll have to do it without Henry, who misses the clash with the Danes through suspension.
