I'm not the man you think I am...I am a poor freezingly cold soul...I have just discovered that prudence never pays. Now, we must wait for the right time

I know the whole world's upside down

12:12 PM

In this western world that we live in, there are few things worse than have no money, living in a dull city with no decent job or prospects. Of course, I state that it's predominantly a western world phenomenon that such material essentials for living should pose such problems. Events in south-east Asia, along with other longer-standing problems in Africa and cultural differences in other countries mean that mere survival is often a major achievement in itself.

Is it selfish to think so much of one's such trivial problems? Perhaps, but then again the large majority of people in such countries are selfish. Should I feel guilty in thinking so much of my own problems, when there are so many more people suffering a much greater struggle than myself? Of course I should. Having a sense of perspective is vital in anybody's life. And it shouldn't only extend to whenever a major natural disaster, such as the recent tsunami, cripples a major section of the earth. It should be like that all year round. Be grateful for what you've got, not mournful of what you don't have.
