Morrissey played 'Asleep' (you missed it)

I arrived on the train from London at about a quarter to eight and, trying to find the entrance to the City Hall, wandered round to the stage door. The tour bus was there, and so was the truck. I imagined that Morrissey wasn't yet in the building so I hung around waiting for him to arrive. I could hear a piano being played, was intrigued and listened more intently. I heard 'Asleep', as gentle and gorgeous as the recording. No voice. The tune was played expertly and with feeling. I wondered who was playing?

A lovely young lady from Manchester saw that I was waiting and told me that he'd arrived about a half hour ago (apparently he was late for the Norwich gig so perhaps trying to make amends(?)).

Well who do you think was playing piano? I can only think that it was Morrissey playing a song he and Johnny crafted together, the one that makes us feel so mortal. Would Boz or Alan play THAT song? The playing stopped.

To me this was the high-light, and I hadn't even seen the man at this point.
