This was the first time I have seen Morrissey play live and so I don't have anything to judge it against but all I can say is that it was absolutely superb ! As soon as the opening bars of "You're Gonna Need..." were played I wished I'd seen him before. Highlights for me were "November Spawned A Monster", "Speedway" and "Now my Heart is Full" (loved the dedication to Leeds' best player - Alan Bennet). I must admit I thought "Lost" was a new song and then realised when I got home that it was the B side to 1997 "Roy's Keen". I've just found out that he had been playing "Alma Matters" instead of "Roy's Keen" at previous gigs - perhaps he should have kept that in - personally I'd have loved it. There were a few hecklers for the support band but to be honest a lot of us had queued an hour to get in, spent an hour waiting for the support and then another hour while they played - it was enough to try anybody's patience I think - does anyone agree ? Still no excuse for having a go at them. As for the bouncers gettng a bit mob handed - I don't blame them ! Morrissey shook every surfer's hand which encouraged people to do it again and again - no wonder the bouncers were getting peeved - there were only about 6 of them to monitor an absolutely sardine packed crowd. The only trouble I saw was at the end - 15 minutes after the lights went on - with a fist fight up in the seated stalls of all places ! One guy was covered in blood but the bouncers broke it up. Hope the guy's alright ! If anyone knows - do post a response. At the end of the day we're all Mozzer fans and it should just be the great night that it was !!!!!
