Hello Friends,

I attended both Vegas shows with my brother and friends and had an unforgettable experience. I had seen Morrissey perform live 4 times previous to the Vegas shows, and I have to say there is a subtle difference in the overall strength of the band's sound. The lads' solid sound at the second show (perhaps the finest Morrissey show I have ever seen) really drove this point home, and for quite a while I couldn't put my finger on what has made the Mozzer and the lads sound, pardon me, but so DAMN good now. Then I realized, the answer was right there under my nose the entire time....SPIKE T. SMITH. His drumming is very reminiscent of the legendary Mike Joyce, in the sense of his authoritative and precise drumming technique, as opposed to the comparatively loose and sometimes disjointed drumming of the former Spencer, with the exception of the exquisite drumming in the intro to "The Operation". Spike's enthusiastic playing style and his upbeat demeanor really were refreshing and have added a vital ingredient to the overall quality of the lads' sound. Spike also played the old Smiths tunes with a passionate respect towards Mike's original lines which complimented Moz's still youthful, Smithsesque vocals. SPIKE really has made a difference in the sound and he deserves a lot of credit for coming straight in the band and anchoring the sound like he's been there from the start. Thank you SPIKE, you are very appreciated and I can't wait to hear your drumming on the new album. Anybody else out there agree??
