I find it strange that they can't play a show without alain.
No disrespect to him but Barenaked Ladies have 2 guitarists
who both do lead vocals. Steven Page does most of the
lead and Ed Robertson does a lot of the backup but
there are songs where they switch off or share.

When Steven Page was back at home with his wife
who was having a baby they still played the shows.
Ed just took over and did all the guitar work and all
the lead vocals.

Why can't Boz or Alain do a show alone w/o the other?
