"New Brunswick: a so-so show for a lame-ass city"
by Angela

Morrissey opened, "Boy Racer". The crowd stood up but were very gentle! No one rushed into the isles. No one did the Pogo. No one danced. I didn't even hear anyone singing along. Where was the enthusiasm? For once I missed the violence of all the other Morrissey shows (except Boston) . I really could not believe how Boring and Tame the audience was.

I heard "London" for the first time. That was a treat. I was really disappointed that Morrissey did not talk to the audience. He said a few, Thank Yous. And he said 1 or 2 other things which were almost completely drowned out by the microphone. He did say something about being sorry about the snort. Snort? I dunno?

One of the highlights of the show was during "The More You Ignore Me..." There was one point, in which Morrissey leaned against this speaker like thing (which was on the ground) and he started pumping his pelvis during the part where he sings, "Take the easy way and give in." and he continued these thrusts when he sang. "just let me in" Boy, it gives a whole NEW meaning to that song.

Throughout the show, Morrissey appeared as if he were ill. He was courteous to the audience, but he by no means was as gregarious as he had been at past shows. He did accept a few notes, as well as several kisses from those lucky bastards in the front rows.

It really bummed me out that the crowd didn't seem "into it." Conversely, Morrissey didn't seem "into it" either.

During "Teachers", it seemed like Morrissey meant it when he sang, "To be finished, would be a relief." Torr says that he thinks he had a cold, cuz he kept beating his chest. As for ranking the show, I give the audience an F. What a lackluster crowd. I can't wait to do this NYC style!

For Morrissey, I give him a B. I could tell that he was trying, but he wasn't up to par. After "Paint A Vulgar Picture", while the band was finishing up the song, Morrissey walked off stage. Boz looked over in the direction Morrissey left - and to my interpretation gave a "where'd he go?" look to the roadies standing in that direction. He then proceeded to take off his guitar and follow Morrissey off stage. Johnny followed as well. Then Alain looked over to Spencer. They spoke for a few seconds, paused, and walked of stage too.

Only two songs were played off Maladjusted: "Roy's Keen", and "Alma Matters". No one told me it was the Vauxhall & I tour?!?

The crowd was totally pumped for Shoplifters - and it was about time!!! Sooooo many people made it onstage, including Panic's own Jeremy! Congrats!!!!! You LUCKY DOG!

Well, Steve Sanchez and that other bodyguard were going crazy trying to keep people off stage... it was soo neat to watch. All the fans that made it onstage were gentle enough with Moz so that he could continue singing. But Sanchez and the other dude were still quite rough in handling stage invaders. Boy, I would LOVE to shoot a dart gun at Sanchez's forehead!

All in all, it was an OK show. yawn nothing to get excited about...
