The ROTT booklet lists who wrote and arranged and produce the additional strings on "Dear God Please Help Me" but not who actually played the instruments. Anyone know?
And the writer - Ennio Morricone? That looks suspiciously like some kind of anagram/hidden Moz joke to me.

    Enrio Morricone and the orchestra

Why do you think it's a joke?
Really fantastic that the Maestro thinks Morrissey is a great singer / songwriter to work with.
Morricone himself conducted an orchestra, I don't know the name of the orchestra, possibly based in Rome.

Many thanks to a user Roy's keen who spotted a youtube link uploaded by pablopanico, you can watch the recording footage in here

Erm, Ennio Morricone is a very, very, very famous Italian film composer.

    Fair enough, that makes sense.

If it makes you feel any better I know in the past some people also assumed that his old engineer Danton Supple was also a joke pseudonym, but he really exists.

But the same can't be said for sleeve designers Terrace Stomp and E.Riff!

NOpe but I saw him in Paris several years ago, he directed 250/300 musicians, it was amazing...hearing his film musics live was a great experience. If you have a chance to see him, you should go.

Dailyalice is right. Morrissey and Morricone are the same person. I can't believe we didn't figure this out earlier! It's the glasses that fool you, like Superman. Morricone takes off his glasses and becomes Morrissey. And solves crimes.

Ennio Morricone is an anagram for "I Am Morrissey," as well as "One Mini Crooner."
