He died...I can't even express how sad I am right now. What an amazing man...I really wanted to meet him. Ugh. That's all I can say right now.

Pity many people seem to unfamiliar with Lee's music.

I didn't know Lee's suffering from cancer until I read his interview on Observer last October.

Hm, I never knew who he was. But I am sure he was an incredible person. :)
At least now he's no longer suffering from such a horrible thing as cancer.
RIP...:)

R.I.P. :( I'm embarrassed to say that my only familiarity w/ Hazelwood is through covers of his work by other artists.

Here is an, oddly appropriate, rendition of The Performer, by Mike Johnson.

The Performer (mp3)

The Performer

I stand on the stage one empty page
Nothing to sell, so little to tell
Won't you come on in my old friends
And sit down
I'm just what you see
There's nothing to me
A piece of the end a never-has-been
Won't you come on in my old friends and sit down
Can't you tell by my clothes I never made it
Can't you hear what my songs just aren't saying?
Can't you see in my eyes that I hate it?
Wasting 20 long years on a dream
Thanks for coming by
To sit and watch me die
Lord knows friends I might
There's three more shows tonight
Won't you come on in my old friends and sit down
Can't you tell by my clothes I never made it
Can't you hear what my songs just aren't saying?
Can't you see in my eyes that I hate it?
Wasting 20 long years on a dream
Thanks for coming by
To sit and watch me die
Lord knows friends I might
There's three more shows tonight
Won't you come on in my old friends and sit down # x2

*Gasp*:( The first time I ever heard of him was when I checked the writing credits for Primal Scream's cover of "Some Velvet Morning" and then later on my friend at school always lents me his copies of Blender magazine and I read them. Well some months ago, there was a interview with him and I read it and I was fasinated by him and there were also talking about that he had cancer, I was really saddend by that. After that I went and sort of check out his music(especially the stuff with Nancy) but I still haven't gotten around to listen to more of his music and actually buying an album.....well I guess now I will. RIP.....I'm quite sad.:(:(

This is really sad. I read an interview lately for the German web-base http://www.laut.de which was just...amazing...and now he's dead. This guy had so good songs, a fine sense of humour and his death really strucked me. My deepest sympathy goes to his family.
