I have sympathy for the parents, but new laws aren't the answer.

"Jessica Logan's nude cell-phone photo - meant for her boyfriend's eyes only - was sent to hundreds of teenagers last year in at least seven Greater Cincinnati high schools.
The 18-year-old Sycamore High School senior was then bombarded with taunts: slut, porn queen, whore.
On July 3, Jessie hanged herself in her bedroom.
She was Albert and Cynthia Logan's only child.
"My only baby that I will never be able to touch again," Cynthia Logan said through tears. "I will never have grandchildren. I will never be able to hand down my heirlooms. I'm just devastated by these parents that allow their children to do and say anything they want."
Now, Jessie's parents are attempting to launch a national campaign seeking laws to address "sexting" - the practice of forwarding and posting sexually explicit cell-phone photos online. The Logans also want to warn teens of the harassment, humiliation and bullying that can occur when that photo gets forwarded..."

edit: I forgot to add...hope the 'boyfriend" feels good about himself...the prick.

Wow... :(
That's terrible.
I guess the girl must've felt even too embarrassed to seek professional help.

Bastard. If she didn't know the "boyfriend" well enough to know he'd do that then why the hell did she get herself photographed in the first place?... I seriously sometimes think brains aren't given to everyone... stupid boyfriend, he's an ass... but she... she could've held on, she was not going to be there forever and things eventually get better. Everything seems so life and death lately it makes me feel a little sick.

In my opinion, she was old enough to know better... that's sad that she killed herself..... but over this???
Seems kinda lame of a reason, maybe she had emotional problems or something...

Feel sorry for the parents, but we don't need any more laws (trying to control what we do in our personal life) than we already have...

PS: Did the guy give a reason as to why he did that??? maybe she cheated on him or something??? he's an ass either way...

This goes on more than people realize. I know of a few situations where this is going on in middle school and high schools. The kids do not realize what a big deal it is until they are charged with distribution of child pornography and led out in silver bracelets.

The law can do that to a fourteen year old boy. Absolutely.

I believe the law would be a good idea.

The world needs more boundaries, not less. There is too much freedom.

Whatever happened to using One Hour Photo? ;)

Ok, so I was 26 at the time...:o

It is not so much that there is more freedom but that technology has opened up new opportunities for people to take advantage of others. That is not to say you can blame technology but for the misuse of it.

In the old days if you wanted to steal music you had to bypass store cameras and mall security. Nowadays you simply log onto piratebay and go silly.

Saw this on NBC a few weeks back....so sad.

A girl who was probably about 14 at my old school did this and seemed pretty pleased with herself once it was spread around (as it's absolutely inevitable).
Like EOH, I just can't see what on earth possessed her to kill herself - nothing is that bad.

seriously. she really should have known better.

It's really sad, but I have to believe she must have been dealing with other psychological issues. I mean really, if a Disney star can overcome it, certainly a typical high school girl can.

We should probably stop sending these pics to each other.
