Friday Mourning: is it about suicide or the end of a relationship

Discussion in 'General Discussion archive 2004 (read-only)' started by I am two people, Dec 14, 2004.

  1. I think it can be both, or maybe neither. Dont know what to think really. Does one mourn about the end of a relationship. I guess Morrissey does. If he is in a relationship.

sorry, i am not making much sense this morning.

I think you are right I think it is about the death of a relationship "dressed in black I wont be coming back" and "I will never stand naked in front of you again" and yeah you can grieve the end of a relationship. I have and its shit! But Im over it now!

Our possibly the end of a music career. I hope not.

  4. I think it is about the end of a relationship, definitely. A relationship can be defined in many, many ways, however. (Again, the 'layers' in Morrissey songs at work!)

I especially like the line "...parents and teachers and bosses who all share a point of view/ You are a loser..." I think THAT line is about something else entirely.

Beautiful. Perfect example of Moz genius at work.
