    Default Question about "Jeane".

First of all, love the song. But I'm confused as to the recorded versions.

I know there's a version with Sandy Shaw, with Moz on vocals. But there's also one with Morrissey on lead vocals.

Which was found on the This Charming Man single? The Morrissey version or the Shaw version?

The Smiths bootleg collection I have, "Reel Around the Fountain" only has the Shaw version. Though it's lovely, I'd also like to track down the Morrissey version, which I've seen on Youtube and some other places.

As far as I know, Mozza did not take any part in Sandy Shaw's version. The Smiths' version of 'Jeane' was the B-side to TCM. It can be found on the new double-disc edition of 'The Sound of the Smiths' recently put out. If utterly necessary for you, you can extirpate the audio from the youtube video of your choice by using listentoyoutube.com for free.

This Charming Man B-side track of Jeane is Morrissey, who else?

If you have queries about Smiths and Morrissey related info (song versions, release date / format, lyrics etc) remember to look up http://passionsjustlikemine.com

The Morrissey version is on the two-disc version of The Sound of the Smiths, and is also on iTunes.

Morrissey sang backing vocals on one of Sandie Shaw's versions, I'm sure.

Edit: There is definetely two version with Sandie on lead (checked my iTunes), one with Morrissey, one without.

yes, you can certainly hear his voice. But there's also the version Sandie did only with Johnny, for the kids in that Charlie's Bus clip.

And there's a version by Billy Bragg that he must have done while drunk.

The Sandie Shaw "Jeane" was a b-side of her single version of "Hand In Glove" (which is very interesting in itself as it is The Smiths backing her and the music is great). It's just Johnny on guitar, Sandie on vocals, and Moz on backing vocals. I always felt the song should probably have been called "John" though...
