Carol, Birthday and Good in your time..... just shows the importance of Alain Whyte

Ok I just overheard a bit of each song, but
I LIKE THEM!
I'm so happy I like them, my first reaction to ROTT was bad and it changed to terrible, so I'm glad I like these. I might like it more in the future.
I've said it before, I don't think Morrissey will come up with lyrics that touch me anymore, he's, you know, a grownup! But musically I'm pleased it's way better than ROTT.
I still think at times he should go down a note, he's kind of squeeling sometimes (more in ROTT than here). Falsettos are nice though.
I'm optimistic now![]()
I voted bottom three...I'm not happy. I really wanted to like it but the lyrics aren't very good and all the songs sound the same...
Oh Munch! That's disappointing. Maybe it'll grow on you.
I don't really expect Moz to produce brilliant lyrics these days. I just want him to avoid cringey stuff.
I expect you are generally more attracted to the early Morrissey persona/lyrics when he was a young, penniless, bicycle-riding radical!
Generally, I'm pretty impressed by the responses in this thread. I really wanted Moz to up his game above the recent mediocrity he's been churning out (with the odd exception) and it seems that most people think he has...
I theorize the work as a whole represents three full cycles around the sun of each of Morrissey's three distinct personalities. Each song represents a season of each person's year. The tricky thing is I don't think the seasons are in order.
That's why it's titled Years of refusal because there's three of them.
YEARS of Bah (sheep) Surreal? for the more wacky conspiracy theorists (spanish trash for that one)
It's a rockin' album, I love it. When I read the lyrics at first I was afraid it was going to be a sobfest, but the music kicks so much ass it's unbelievable.
aww..i love the spanish influence at last i spoke to carol..me as a half latino..how couldn't i..??
great work!!..can't stop listen to it![]()
The aim of life is self-development. To realize one's nature perfectly - that is what each of us is here for.

It's a silly language. It's kind of like doing algebra but you substitute word fragments for numbers.
Years of (REFUSE) al.
Years of (TRASH) al.
Years of (BASURA) al.

Years of BAH Surreal.
Years of Surreal Sheep.

Are you still gonna let me love your armpits?![]()
Yeah, I'm going to carry on trying to get it to grow on me. I started listening to it for the second time but I decided I'd rather listen to Ryan Harvey (a genuine young, penniless, bicycle-riding radical) but when I'm done with that for the night I'll go back to trying to like the album. It is true that the only Moz I consistantly listen to is everything up to Bona Drag...
I'm suprised how much everyone seems to be loving it as well! I don't really see how it's any better than ROTT..
I thought compared to ROTT and Quarry that YOR really is something completely different. I thought that the music was much more deliberate, and relevant as opposed to past instrumentals that were almost interchangeable. I thought the album had really great energy about it and thought it was quite nice. All and all I think this is the best Morrissey album of this decade.
Is it me, or is YOR really pacey and quick compared to You Ate The Curry and ROTT?
"Maybe if I was an anarchist and had a signed copy of Kimono My House or something you'd sleep with me"
I'm currently listening to it right now, every song so far is+

Seriously so good, I can't wait to see him jam these songs
It is exactly what i expected nothing more or less. There's the odd gem mama, birthday and some good dirty rock songs ok,sorry, goodbye and skull .Morrissey is near 50 anyone expecting him to write know it's over everytime really is expecting to much. Its a new morrissey record and i'm glad he's around to make them.
So good. Mama is perfect as we all knew. But what a way to end it, no? I haven't been left grinning at the end of an album like that since Satan Rejected My Soul. Birthday is also some of his best work. This was really, really good.
I need to live with an album for a few days before commenting.
Love it. Definitely the best Morrissey album of this decade.

I don't need more ammunition
I've got more than I can spend
I don't dwell on things I'm missing
I'm just pleased
With the things I've found
